Hard to say exactly how much it would hurt unit cohesion really, I guess it would depend on the unit. Let me ask you this, are you in favor of a co-ed military? I mean women being uncomfortable living and showering with men is really just as illogical as a straight man being uncomfortable living/showering with a gay man.

Well you don't have to ask a black man if they're black. It's not as if we asked them to put on makeup so they'd look like a white man. So why should homosexuals have to hide? And why would you ask someone if they were homosexual? So you could ask them on a date? I don't see how asking anyone if they're homosexual is a valid question in the first place.

Again it's a backward policy catering to ignorance.

Ends when you enter the military. What's important is the military's ability to carry out a mission not you and the NY Times. America can live without either one of you, in fact never miss you.
