That is not appropriate.

Anyone can freely practice a literal policy of Don't Ask, Don't Tell, like if you don't want to know if your spotter is gay, then don't ask them. And conversely, if you don't want you anyone in your unit to know you're gay, don't tell them. But to make being openly gay a condition for discharge, is inappropriate.
I'm not saying kick gays out of the military... However I do realize this whole gay thing will be pushed to its limits because dumb ass Obama just opened the door for that to happen.

Now transsexuals WILL try to join the military, whats their policy for that?

Furthermore we cant have flamboyant distractions in our military either, you know the loud mouth gays who have to let everyone know they're gay and flaunt their homosexuality in peoples faces. You know those "proud to be out of the closet types."

We don't need the gays bringing their culture to the military. Our military is strict and their subculture is about is liberal and loose as it gets.

I wish this was a simple subject where common sense is the rule of thumb but we all know liberals CANT say no to other liberals, right now liberals are the ones making the policy and since they cant say no we will see the slippery slope.

Since the most successful military in the world, the Romans, had openly gay divisions, I don't think its really groundbreaking for our own military to finally do it as well.

You're being silly. Maybe they'll start painting the tanks pink, and wearing flowers in their hair.

"insecure soldiers"

So I guess if females don't want to shower with men they are also "insecure"

The next time a female says "that guy was looking at me like I was a piece of meat, I will be sure to respond with "don't be insecure."

Kudos to you if you wouldn't feel uncomfortable showering next to a gay dude with a fucking boner.

You can say that of any politician. But we're a little early into the Obama administration to count him out, IMO.

That's not being silly.

Whats silly is assuming special interest groups won't and don't push the envelope as far as possible.

Now, I will say before years end their will be transsexuals trying to join the military, just to do it.

You ever hear of the old saying - "when in Rome live like a Roman"

Does this look like Rome to you?

You've obviously never been to Washington DC.

Our country is modeled to great extent after Rome in terms of its governance and even military.

Obama is not the one allowing gays to serve in the military...

What problems do you foresee in allowing that?

Well, you're right about the military culture being strict. It's so strict, in fact, that the introduction of any culture is, by and large, opposed.

I can remember when we started recognizing Black History Month, Asian/Pacific Heritage Month, and any other number of "Months". The only reason those are now recognized on military bases is because the government said they would be. The military, by and large, was against it. When I went to boot camp, the first thing my Company Commander told us was that we weren't white, and we weren't black. We were blue. The introduction of of those "Months" flew in the face of that...

The "slippery slope" argument is hollow. Seriously, it's weak, because it doesn't require any specifics; just the presence of an irrational fear. It's funny that you mention "common sense", because the "slippery slope" argument requires an absence of it.

My "common sense" is based on my experiences, which tell me that gays can, do, and have served honorably in our military services, in peacetime and in wartime.

Again, Swoop (and I think this is the third time I've asked this), have you served?

That's not insecurity, that's being objectified by an immature disrespectful moron. If someone is being disrespectful, we have ways of dealing with that.

Why do you think gay soldiers aren't respectful?

That's pretty funny really, considering gay men have been showering with heterosexual men in the military for a long time, and it doesn't seem to cause any problems. The problem only happens when people like you know the guy next to them is gay. Does this explain why all those men you felt comfortable in the shower with had boners?

Thanks for the chuckle.

Man, you're really nuts. You think homosexuals joined the military as part of some equal rights crusade?

I think anyone who enlists, "just to do it," will get washed out in basic. But if they have the metal to serve, and fulfill their duty, how could you not respect that?

I have been to DC several times and I can tell you the only things Rome and DC have in common is architecture.

Geez.

Oh I can see the fun now already.

"They flunked me out of basic because I was gay"

Lawsuits to follow and an one big liberal spectacle painting the military brass as homophobes and such.

Yes you can BET YOUR ASS (no pun intended) that gays and transsexuals will attempt to join the military as a crusade.
