Depends on what Dobbs' house is built with. A lot of high end housing these days use steel studs instead of wood, which has been rapidly declining in quality the last couple of decades, even 'the good lumber' pretty much sucks these days, and the cost for 'the good stuff' has risen to the point where many materials are competitive cost wise. 'Siding' could be anything, including concrete and gravel slabs, these days.

Another factor is what kind of shape the firearm was in, and what type of slug was used.

I live in the middle of several very active deer leases, including 4 of my own that I lease out, and I've never had my barn or house or anything else shot up by hunters, accidentally or otherwise, and I built the place over 30 years ago.

I hope some of you liberal posters here make sure to call the New Jersey police department and tell the detectives in charge of the case that Dobbs political ideas had nothing to do with his home being shot at. Also let it be known to them that liberals would never act out in violence against those they oppose.

They said the bullet was "spent". Perhaps you, as a firearms and ordinance expert, can explain to me what "spent" means, in terms of a bullet bouncing off siding? How far would a rifle bullet have to travel before it would be considered "spent"?

Depends on the caliber, I would think. Probably possible that it was an improperly recycled or manufactured round, too. All in all though, I don't think Mr. Dobbs has anything to worry about. Most likely just some drunken yahoo taking pot shots with a stolen gun.

Strange how this CNN article gives different details, such as the full take from the police sgt. in charge of the investigation:

So, Dobbs' plea of targeted attack from latino activists is only his own speculation at this point......as is the claim that someone was shooting at his wife intentionally.

The verdict is still out on this one. Details are sketchy, but I do wonder how a bullet fired from a road would fail to penetrate the wall of the house and end up on the outside.

Weird how the wife is unavailable for comment....did she hear a gunshot? did she see someone...or a car that looked to be where the shot came from?

Surely she would have told the police this information and they would be able to offer more details of the circumstances.

Anyway, just weird...I'm not convinced that I can appropriately draw any conclusion from this incident.

Yeah I would like to hear her take too considering she is Hispanic.

I guess people missed the part of the story that says they were outside the house, heard the shot, and it hit about 15 or so feet away from them.. All just 'coincidence', along with those death threats, I suppose.

I believe it's possible. I just don't believe it's likely, given the info we have, that Dobbs was targeted.

As far as violent liberals, I think Ted Kaczynski proved that point.
