WARNING--Breaking News Only--NO THREAD DUMPING--Violations Will Be Issued

WARNING--Breaking News Only--NO THREAD DUMPING--Violations Will Be Issued

In an attempt to battle the partisan mudslinging fest that the Breaking News section has become, we've been a little more aggressive in our moderating of this section. If we feel that a post made here does not have to do with current events in the political world, we will move it to a section where it is more at home. If you feel that we have moved your thread wrongly, feel free to let us know and we will review our decision.

We understand that many people feel that by posting the Breaking News section, their thread will receive much more views and bring about more responses. So, there are a lot of threads popping up here that have very little to do with recent headlines about politics. We have a large selection of sub-forums that are better suited to many of the threads being created here, so we ask that you make sure you're in the right place before you post:

Is it an important current event? Does it have to do with politics?

Creating threads that contain facts based on old events for the purpose of rebutting a breaking news event are not permitted in this section. Examples would be Bill Clinton rebuttal threads, the former Republican Congress rebuttal threads, and other such things that are intended to rebut, most likely for partisan reasons, a breaking news event of current facts. Technically they were never allowed because news must be breaking to qualify for this forum and it is not intended as a talking points competition, but this needed to be mentioned specifically to clarify any doubts due to their frequent appearance. Any such rebuttals properly belong as posts in any breaking news threads that concern the breaking news in question and/or as threads in another appropriate general topic forum where the subject matter belongs (the executive, legislative, or judicial forums or the issue forums, etc).

Thank you for your help and hopefully, this will improve the forum in the long run. 
