Immigrant Advocate Uses Texting to Warn of U.S. Crime Sweeps - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News - FOXNews.com
Group aiding criminals by texting warnings of immigration sweeps I believe is a crime is it not? I mean the last I heard helping someone commit a crime makes you an accessory to the crime. But what's laughable is these people say the immigration sweeps are just an excuse to round up illegal immigrants. Well DUH! Since when do they need an excuse to enforce the fucking law.

It is unlawful for any alien to enter into the US other than at a time or place other than as designated by immigration officers. It is also unlawful to remain in the US having entered unlawfully.
See 8 U.S.C. § 1325
In addition, they may be committing obstruction of justice by interfering with the enforcement of 8 U.S.C. § 1325 by providing warning to those in violation.

I believe your interpretation of the law is incorrect. I'm no lawyer, so I won't stake my name on it, but I do not think that they can legally be charged with anything. Being a coyote is certainly illegal. Telling someone that the po-po is around? I doubt it.
Though I imagine being active in the underground railroad was also illegal.

You might be right. I am not certain either, which is why I said they may be committing obstruction of justice.
Completely different issue - you're no longer talking about whether the law was broken but about whether it was right to do so.

There are a lot of misconceptions about what the law actually is regarding undocumented immigration. Law enforcement agencies end up abrogating the law on a regular basis, mostly out of ignorance.
Well the OP apparently believes that the law was broken and it was wrong to do so. So my point is on topic.Completely different issue - you're no longer talking about whether the law was broken but about whether it was right to do so.

not right here though. the law is clear, getting into or remaining in the country without proper paperwork and approval, is illegal. helping someone remain in the country when you have full knowledge of their illegal status, is aiding someone in the ongoing commission of a crime. which is illegal.
Its not like you said" hey cops" at a party. Its like you called all your buddies in the area that you knew were illegals when the ICE agents showed up.
one is harmless and legal. the other while also relatively harmless in this case, is illegal.

In your opinion, should the boarders just be totally opened up? Should European vacationers be allowed to stay indefinetly and live as US citizens? Should the only requirement for citizenship be "just being on US soil"? Should there be any restrictions at all?Donkey_Left:
