Whatever happens, just keep them in the south.
I disagree to an extent, I think a fence is part of the process. You MUST stem the flo...., you know, the old stop the bleeding, check the breathing etc etc..

All alone, no fence or psychical barrier will be the complete answer BUT it can make a huge impact and help as we go forward.

Seems like a good issue for Obama to take on. It is a partisan issue, but no where near what healthcare was.

I don't have confidence they'll be able to pass this bill. We saw what happened in 2007 when they tried to do something similar to this and now they want to force everybody into a fingerprint Social Security card requirement? Yeah, that'll go over real well. If they think they've seen outrage over the health care grab, they haven't seen anything yet.

I know we argue a lot here but any fan of Battlestar Galactica has a special place in my heart......Caprica is getting very good as well.

I agree with you this time. My thing would be to deny them the same rights we have. They should make an illegal immigrant's bill of rights:

    1. You have the right to apply for citizenship
    2. You have the the right to due process
    3. You have the right to apply for a work permit and must reapply every 6 months pending a background check. Provide fingerprints and DNA so you can be tracked. You pay double taxes while working here as a non-citizen.

    That's it here's what they can't have:

    1. They are not allowed any benefits of citizenship, including medicare.
    2. Children of illegal immigrants are NOT citizens and are not eligible for education, medical care, etc.
    3. If you commit a crime while on illegal status you are permanently revoke for ever gaining citizenship and if caught here after that you get a minimum sentence of ten years hard labor working for local governments.
    4. Violation of any of these rules puts you on a watch list
    5. Bill of rights does not apply to illegal immigrants (minus due process of law)

Employers caught using undocumented workers should face prison time for a first offense and a minimum of 100k per illegal working for them.

Harsh I know but seeing how other countries treat Americans, this is still pretty mild.

I am. Perhaps it won't stop everyone but not having a fence is ludicrous and a huge national security breach.

The fence is there for two reasons: intimidation and it would stop the minor runs from crossing over.
This would definitely be an effective way but I doubt anyone has the balls to do it. I'd only be in favour of such punishment if its accompanied with a reasonable path to citizenship.

    Pretty much.

Look at all this bipartisan support right here in this thread!

They'd first have to pass some form in the House and Senate....then, I guess they could deem and pass.

Deem and Pass has been the wave of the past....no reason to suspect it wouldn't be the wave of the future....

You seem to be up on deem and pass, what previous social and/or reform programs have been enacted using deem and pass?
Take a good hard look, it's coming.

It's been used hundreds of times apparently...but to make the point you're leading me into, Even though it's never been used to pass a large reform program, I don't think the "deem and pass" rules make any distinction about the scope/size of the bill.

There will be Republicans that vote for this. That shit bag Lindsey Graham right here in South Carolina is helping shape the bill. There will be a lot of Democrats, however, that won't go along which is what happened last time.

Seems a bit simplistic to me. Good slogan - " No one owns the world. Not even Americans." - but a bit short on substance.

How about your house? Can I move in and take over your living room? I don't have a "piece of paper" that says I can live in your house, but does that really matter? Is "Nobody owns your house. Not even you." as exciting a slogan?

    Matt
Maybe if you adopted my attitude you'd feel a lot less hateful and angry about the illegal immigration problem . Fortunately for Americans, especially white ones, there are few places on earth they would not be able to live if they so desired.
Aliens, whether they come here legally or illegally have no desire to take over my living room or yours for that matter. They want the same thing you and I already have, a home of their own and they are quite willing to work for that.

Aside from a baseless, silly assumption about anger, you managed to completely avoid addressing my post.

I don't equate your stealing my flat screen with illegal aliens entering this country to work and earn a living. It's fine that you don't give a fuck about what they want or need. As for your needs, I'm pretty sure they are being met quite nicely even though there are illegal aliens living here right now.
