What you are referring to is the Milankovitch cycles of the earths orbit around the planet. The current cycle should not be causing warming, it should actually be causing very gradual cooling over the next ~30K years or so until the onset of the next glaciation.

The forcing from the enhanced greenhouse effect caused by humans is now stronger than the weaker orbital forcing.

The result is that the new date for the end of the second last ice age is thousands of years too early to be related to any increase in the intensity of the northern hemisphere summer as predicted by the Milankovitch Theory.
From the article I posted. I also read the wiki on the Milankovitch Theory and it seems that there were a few holes. This new research poked through one of them.

lol that link was great ....

"snow is starting to disappear from our lives."

"Children just aren't going to know what snow is"

"ultimately, British children could have only virtual experience of snow. Via the internet, they might wonder at polar scenes - or eventually "feel" virtual cold."

    ...once more, lol.

Well since increased snows are a sign of global warming because of increased moisture in the atmosphere next time there is a summer dry spell clearly it will be because of global cooling.

What i get from that article is that London went almost 20 years without any significant snowfall.

Here is a couple quotes from the scientists in that article from the year 2000:

According to Dr David Viner, a senior research scientist at the climatic research unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia, within a few years winter snowfall will become "a very rare and exciting event".

Heavy snow will return occasionally, says Dr Viner, but when it does we will be unprepared. "We're really going to get caught out. Snow will probably cause chaos in 20 years time," he said.

If we recall the media reaction and the ensuing chaos casued for the recent (and seemingly rare?) snow his comments seem very prescient indeed.

The forecasts from climate scientists has been for more extreme weather - and extreme winter storms are consistent with that.

The forecasts are based on regions of the earth.

I.e., the southwest should experience more extreme drought conditions.

The forecasts are not the same for every region on earth - internal climate mechanisms are still in effect - they are just being changed by adding more energy to the system.

Right, well i'm sure your local and anecdotal experience of the world disproves basic science and global observations.

Perhaps i'm confused as to what you are trying to say. The point i was making is that the period of the cycle we are in now is one of very gradual cooling over the next ~30K years. I.e., we are not contributing to a natural warming cycle from orbital forcing - anthropogenic greenhouse forcing is actually superceding this cyclical cooling.

I'm not dim enough to claim any such thing, you have by leaping to a conclusion just like AL Gore the climate prophet.

Expectations for the Southwest: Hot with Decades of Drought | UANews.org

The southwest goes through cyclical periods of severe drought. We are now in a situation where you can add more heat to the potential for severe drought and you have what climate scientists are warming about - more extreme weather conditions over and above what would be expected without global warming.

    Quit acting so dim then.

Another rather "dim" statement. Read the science.

Ahh. OK. I get it. Nice to know that there are other smart people on the forums.

Well, what he should have said was "No predictions of global warming by reputable sources have ever said winter or snow would just magically disappear."

East Anglia has been exposed as lacking academic integrity.
