teachers just use the same lesson plan they used the year before, rarely do they ever change it. teachers do grading during school hours they have time set aside for that during the day. if you get lucky you might have a teacher that will help you for an hour after school but those teachers are getting harder to find.
teachers send a three page list of school supplies that they require for thier classes most make no sense at all just things they want you to have. example #2 pencil and mechanical pencil, pink eraser and a white eraser, a green notebook and a red notebook. it costs something like a grand per student every year for supplies that teachers want.
as for pay teachers make more than the avg family does in this country and that is not including teh benefits that they get.
You "know many teachers?" How many of them are English teachers?

Given the massive chip on your shoulder, I suspect you were the one causing the problems in the classroom, and now you're pissed off because you're out of school and feeling uneducated. Look in the mirror and you'll find the problem.

You know your half truths and lies about a teachers life is not being believed anymore cause most of us are parents now. I see my Girlfriend's kids come home and help them do homework so I am very much knowledgeable of what teachers do. $52 in supplies a semester and that's just for the little one the older one it cost us $300 +. Dont give me the bullshit that they pay for supplies....As for working late....LMAO I live right next door to a school and the parking lot is empty an hour after last bell.

They aren't half-truths, they aren't lies, and the reason they are not believed (by some) is that (some) people are stupid, not because they are parents.

I see my Girlfriend's kids come home and help them do homework so I am very much knowledgeable of what teachers do.
The fact that you think this makes you "very much knowledgeable of what teachers do" says it all.

writing up next weeks class agenda
What agenda? What they teach is all laid out for them.

    working days off tutoring
If they are tutoring they are getting paid for it.

using your own money for school supplies
What school supplies? The kids buy their own.

    coming in nights for conferences
OMG they have a meeting to go to.

    PTA meetings
You mean every teacher that teaches has to attend a PTA meeting. I don't think so.

    events
You mean like go to a school rally that is during school hours.

    working summer school
You mean they have to work in the summer, how sad is that. Everybody I know that works, works all yr. Why are teachers any different.

My mom made $4780 in 1968, waited tables on the weekends and summer, worked until she was 76 teaching.
What about Dad, what did he do?

You talk as though a teacher is the god of education. What BS, they have a job like anybody else. Teachers are not special far from it. Their just average Joe's that wanted to teach, bfd.

Wait, you help a kid with homework and saw a parking lot so now you're an expert on teaching?

You do understand that teachers can (and do) grade papers at home, right?

Oh, and while I did pay for my own supplies (my school couldn't even afford to pay for copies) I never made any claims about such - you need to figure out who you're arguing against.

Grading papers can be done anywhere the teacher wishes. Grading papers is part of the job of teaching.

Buying your own supplies, that's common in many industries, where the workers buy and owns their tools of the trade so to speak. Nothing new here.

For the life of me I can't figure out what all the hub hub is about a teachers job. There are far more stressful jobs, harder jobs physical and mentally and so forth. I mean a teacher has a job to do, no different than millions of Americans that have a job to do.

I believe this all came up because of WI and the teachers union, teachers have a job to do no different than the rest of working America. And they deserve nothing less and nothing more than the rest of working America.

Having had a number of careers over the years, including a fair number of private sector jobs, I can honestly say that teaching was one of, if not the most demanding work that I've done. It is incredibly taxing to be "on" for that much time out of the day, managing that many kids, making that many decisions, for that many hours. It is mentally exhausting.

I know that you and others want to pooh-pooh it, but it is real work. It is hard work. That is why so few people actually pursue the work, and even fewer stay in the job.

    So are conservative tactics.

Here is footage of Fox "News", lying to its audience, again. The scenes are shown in the context of the unions issue in Wisconsin.

But...notice the short sleeves? I thought it was cold there?

    And...palm trees? In Wisconsin?

So we're supposed to be able to divine what the context of the imagery was by 43 seconds? I didn't here anywhere in that clip that the images shown were supposed to be of Wisconsin. What if the conversation was something along the lines of "We're going to show some pictures of union thuggery while we talk to Mike Tobin"?

In which case, why show it at all? Either they were claiming that it was footage of what was going on in Wisconsin, or they were claiming nothing pertinent whatsoever. In the first case they were lying. In the second they should be ignored.

It does not amount to knowledge of anything except your own particular circumstances. It does not allow a valid claim of general knowledge.

You dont show anything to dispute what I said
That's because you said nothing, you have nothing, and no response was required.

And some wonder why it is believed that the "fair and balanced, and unafraid" is a helluva lie? I actually saw this report on The Factor, and assumed the footage was from Wi. As did most folks, I think.

PROPAGANDA. There should have been a disclaimer regarding the footage.
