I dont believe in federally recognized marriages to begin with - thats a state issue, or a 10th Amendment issue.

Gee, I'm sorry, did I interrupt your little diatribe with reality?

I know that it's all nice and convenient to believe that the world will just work a certain way, and everything will be nice and clean and good and fine. But, reality isn't so cooperative. The "what ifs" are the contingencies that people are living with every day and fighting to overcome. You may see them as minor inconveniences, but to them, they're significant obstacles to everyday living.


And, really, throwing around the "you're an X so you Y" is beyond childish. Can't you grow up just a tad?

In a sense, but in one sense only. You may not marry anyone who is unwilling to marry you. As it is dependent on the personal choice of someone else, it may be considered a privilege.

It is not, however, a privilege in which the state should have any role in determining who is entitled to it.
