Feingold isn't running for President in '08

I have to admit I don't know that much about him, but the few times I have heard him speak, I've been impressed.

Feingold Rules Out Run for President - NY Times, Nov. 12, 2006:

Quote:
U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold has decided against seeking the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination, saying he wanted to focus on his work in the Senate.

In a letter posted on his political action committee's Web site, Feingold said he was excited that Tuesday's elections gave Democrats control of both chambers of Congress, giving them the chance to ''undo much of the damage that one-party rule has done to America.''

''We can actually advance progressive solutions to such major issues as guaranteed health care, dependence on oil and our unbalanced trade policies,'' he wrote.
First Mark Warner, now Russ Feingold. Clearing the way for ???????

I am from Wisconsin and can tell you that he is too far to the left to win presidency. And besides, he Jewish. He wont win. Put you money on Barrack or Hilary--hopefully Barrack.

That's sad news. I love Feingold.

Reddalert, you say he can't win because he is Jewish....well Obama is black and Hillary is female. Can they win despite the fact that they are not a white male?

Obama is a junior Senator and has provided little to no fruit. Hillary is a bit more weathered and has a long history of events that will provide critics with much material to be scrutinized. I think it is just plain silly to say that Obama will lose because of his race and Hillary because of gender.

Oh .. and I don't know if I'll be able to sleep now since Feingold isn't running ...

Why Obama? What fruit has he produced since his win in 2004?

It's true, Hillary would be taken apart by the nasty campaigning....we should look for someone without baggage. I still like Evan Bayh.

I'd love to see Al Gore too. I think he's done some great things since he won the election in 2000

The Obama has no experience line is getting old and is a non-issue. Dubya never left the US and was expected to be the leader of the free world?

You mean like a disastrous, multi-million dollar utter policy failure? Is a person's actual track record in the public sector "baggage" now?

I see Sam is displaying her deep devotion to the rule of law again.

Unfortuanely. There exists racism and dislike of Jews and blacks. And there is discrimination against women. I despise Hilary and am no fan of Feingold. Barrack is too inexperienced to run--but I do like him. I dont know everything about his vision for the nation--but I enjoy listening to him. He seems like a good guy.

Dude, Gore won the popular vote. Florida was contested. Bush was appointed by the Supreme Court. Are you thinking about re-writing history or something?

Pray tell, does the popular vote elect the President?

Yup, and it was decided by the courts. You know, that Rule of Law thing you favor only when you side wins?

If you can show me a line in the Supreme Court ruling that says "We hereby appoint Bush President", I'll send you $100.

No, I am operating in reality - you should try it some time.

Try facing up to it, Sam - the 2000 Presidential Election was contested, and numerous court actions ensued.

At the end of that road, the United States Supreme Court - which you might have heard is the highest court in the land - ruled on the matters of law controlling the Florida recount.

But since you didn't like their ruling, you apparently don't feel bound by the Court's verdict, instead continuing to advance the incorrect claim that Gore won.

Gore didn't win.

If you actually respected the rule of law, you'd understand that.

Matt
