I heard back in about 05 or so that Reid told collegues that he wanted to step aside and would be "whipping up votes" rather than be the majority leader so clearly the Dems have learnt the lesson of having a majority leader being held hostage by his base from a Red state being a bad idea.

I guess you figured you were untouchable until Daschle got the boot, imagine us kicking out the incumbent majority leader twice in 6 years.... Also with the majority he'd have in the next session....

I think it was also the time the immigration bill was flying about through the Senate and his numbers were at like 19% so it made sense.

But more so thn that it all but cripples Hillarry's ability to run for the Presidency but most importantly stops Obama from nominating her to the SC, because there's no way she's going from first lady to Senator, to leader to SC/President. Pigs will fly before that happens. Though if Obama wins i guess that takes the Presidency option off the table for her altogether.

However I think Hillary would be acceptable in the Dept. of Labor or the Dept. of Commerce. She would never take such "lowly" positions though.
