In Washington DC the use of the word "investigation" (when it involves a Democrat) is a euphemism for "we are gong to do nothing". If Rangel were a Republican, he'd have been forced to resign.

Based on everything I have heard thus far, Rangel should get a slap on the wrist in-so-far as his seat is concerned, but given the nature of the mistakes he made, he should have to relinquish the Chairmanship of the Weighs and Means Committee. Someone who gets their own taxes wrong for that long has no business chairing the committee that writes tax law.
