Congress Convenes - First 10 Bills

Thought this would be fun. Starting with bills not containing standard opening business.

Quote:
H.RES.6 : Recognizing the significant contribution coaches make in the life of children who participate in organized sports and supporting the goals and ideals of National Coaches Appreciation Week.

H.RES.7 : Encouraging increased public awareness of eating disorders and expanded research for treatment and cures.

H.RES.9 : Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that the President of the United States should not issue pardons to senior members of his administration during the final 90 days of his term of office.

H.RES.11 : Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that the United States, in collaboration with other international allies, should establish an energy project with the magnitude, creativity, and sense of urgency that was incorporated in the "Man on the Moon" project address the inevitable challenges of "Peak Oil".

H.RES.14 : Recognizing the importance of the Border Patrol in combating human smuggling and commending the Department of Justice for increasing the rate of human smuggler prosecutions.

H.RES.15 : Authorizing and directing the Committee on the Judiciary to inquire whether the House should impeach G. Thomas Porteous, a judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.

H.RES.16 : Supporting the goals and ideals of National Life Insurance Awareness Month.

H.RES.18 : Honoring the life, achievements, and contributions of Paul Newman.

H.RES.20 : Calling on the State Department to list the Socialist Republic of Vietnam as a "Country of Particular Concern" with respect to religious freedom.
Do they know how to waste time or what? This one was interesting:

Quote:
H.R.15 : To provide a program of national health insurance, and for other purposes.

• The Army will put guards around the place.
• The Navy will turn out the lights and lock the doors.
• The Air Force will take out a 5-year lease with an option to buy.
• The Marines will kill everybody inside and make it a command post.

A complete and utter waste of time, the President's authority to pardon is clear and absolute, end of story.

Looks like they're overpaid and waste too much time. How much PORK did they add to each bill?

Actually, one thing I find ominous, is Nancy Pelosi actually reserved the first 10 bills numbers for when Obama takes office. I just find it incredible that they submitted 150 bills after being in office 1 day.

I can only count 2 or 3 bills there that are anything more than talk without action. I'm willing to bet that there is more pork in the remainder than a ham sandwich covered in bacon.
