Yeah--& it's just begun! Listening to Dick Morris right now, Clinton's former advisor--he is stating that this will consume Nancy Pelosi & the Obama administration for some time to come. He talks about Clinton with Monica Lewinski & other scandels that lasted years. Reflecting that Bill Clinton even though acting normal was totally consumed with the threat of impeachment. Morris is stating that YOU never pick a fight with the CIA. He believes that Nancy Pelosi is DONE. He believes Pelosi is out of her seat in about 1 month. He says democrats in congress will start to back another speaker & abandon her & her policies that she has been writing for Barack Obama. "Like Health Care." The longer this lasts--the harder for the Obama administration to pursuade Americans that his policies are right for America. Democrats will start jumping ship on him.

I am not . As much as I despise Pelosi, this is a huge distraction. I am not into dog fights and useless recriminations that may damage the country, just to have dog fights so as to wound political leaders, even though she may deserve it, as to the politicization that she and many have employed.

But its also an Obama screw up. He should have left well enough alone. His calculations as to bowing to the left, releasing torture documentation etc. didn’t figure in Cheney going on the warpath. They didn’t figure in a drunk on her power Pelosi digging deeper and deeper and having what amounts to a meltdown yesterday. She started this shit back in an interview Feb 25 2009, saying she wasn’t briefed. And its on film and its damning. He forgot that to the barons of congress, senators, congresscritters, they can take gambles and still carry their districts or states, the exec. cannot.

I think in the end IF we had to dredge all this shit, that the cia would be able to prove they showed the Intel committees everything they were doing, we’ve basically seen as much. This may be a MAD situation, but maybe not, the reps. may come out ahead on this.

The public is ambivalent over the torture issue, steady numbers have shown a ‘rarely’ or ‘sometimes’ approval rate over 60% as to torture, so if the dems think they are going to make hay over that alone, well, they are wrong , as I think Cheney unlike Pelosi is not stupid enough to ask for documents that would not prove that this torture had yielded actionable intel that kept other attacks from occurring.

Be that as it may, this is all a rope a dope we don’t need. Forget it and move on. Obama has still to deal with Gitmo, and hes in trouble there as they have denied monies necessary and there are states that have enacted legislation to keep T’s from Gitmo coming to their states without the governors approval and the legislature, and no one among them is going to take that political gamble as to bring any of them to their state.

Pelosi knows (and THEY ALL KNOW) that Congress does not hold its members accountable for their actions. Even those who overtly commit crimes are protected by their PEERS (see "Jefferson, William), and she knows that she has a safe district in California where she will be re-elected for as long as she chooses to run. Frankly, no accountability = no responsibility. Pelosi is only one member of the most irresponsible "ruling class" in human history.

In an attempt to create bad press for the other side of the aisle by pushing for a "Truth Commission", her opponents have very wisely turned it around on her. Now she complains about this deflecting tactic and blunders on by announcing the CIA lied to her. Well somebody lied, and for her sake I hope it was the CIA, because this thing has now spun out of her control. The White House must be pretty pissed off at her, since they were trying to get her to drop the whole "Truth Commission" thing.

The CIA is standing by their statement. Also--there were other members during the meeting that she is referring to that stand by their statements--"that they were informed--"in detail" about the waterboarding & in fact were told" by the CIA that it was being used.

She has in effect "cooked her goose." There is a lot of evidence plus testimony to prove that.

But really--it is not only herself that she has destroyed. She has hurt democrats, & specifically Barack Obama. This news is not going to go away. It's going to become another Abu Graide top story--month after month--nightly news story. This will wear on democrats in general including Barack Obama.

The irony: If Barack Obama had not released the Bush administration memos on the enhanced interrogation technics--in his effort to "appease" the Bush/Cheney haters--this crisis would not even be going on today. This strategy to "hurt" Republicans--has back-fired big time on this administration. So all OF you Bush/Cheney haters have only "yourselves" to blame for this. CONGRATULATIONS!

Unfortunately, too many people in politics would rather talk about the past, especially if it distracts from the current and future or they feel they can score points talking the past in blame games, and this certainly includes Dems in Congress, people with axes to grind with the former Admin, etc. It's also the same with many on the streets that significantly disliked the Bush Admin that just won't let go of the Bush years even though they are now out of office. Had the Dem Congress taken his advice, then these doors wouldn't have gotten thrown back on them too and as for the Bush Admin haters in the public, it still preoccupies their focus too much IMO.

As for Pelosi, it reminds me of the old cliche "Be careful for what you wish for, you just might get it." I would much rather that the politicians have taken Obama's advice in the first place precisely because IMO it's time to move on from a former Admin and focus on the current issues and going forward and most certainly there is a full plate that needs attention and discussion. That is what matter most to me financially, internationally, etc. Beating the past is beating a dead horse far more so than doing something worthwhile. The politicians also too often wind up being a circular firing squad to themselves and the voters lose out because they are wasting time and/harming their careers when they are intended by the voters to handle current and future issues.

It's far more often than not just better to learn from it and move on and figure out what to do going forward rather that primarily focus on the blame game. That is also how the Japanese and others approach problems, and IMO it's to their advantage and something Americans could learn from.

Interesting that now that the Ds are in charge we should move forward. The truth only matters when it can be used to hurt your political opponent. Now that theyve used the accusations to win an election, they are no longer concerned with whether the accusations are true, because the real truth is that the Ds were just as complicit in what they accused the Rs of. Its the seriousness of the charge, not the accuracy.

WHats interesting is so far its only hurt the Dems. Bush, republican congressman have not denied that they used EITs, that they were fully breifed on it, and knew it would be used, that the admin considered it legal and neccesary. So, the issue so far is not that we "tortured" some terrorists, but the attempts by the Dems to dodge their complicity.

Wow. All the hallmarks I look for in an interrogation/interview:

A. Using hands to make a point, but not passionately.
B. Repeating oneself ("Let me repeat it again, again...")
C. Head bobbing.
D. Tension around the high corners of the mouth.

I don't know if she's lying or just nervous, but she's got, ostensibly, no reason to be nervous. Which means lying.

Then again, it's a historical fact that the CIA has never, ever, ever lied to suit their own purposes.

Never. No sir.
