I'm the farthest thing from racist/sexist/homophobic/whatthefuckever, but I have a huge problem with the government infringing upon the rights of business owners in the name of protecting peoples rights.

Exactly. It makes no sense to pass this bullshit. If they really wanted to make discrimination illegal, they would just pass a law prohibiting discrimination based on anything except for qualities directly relating to the job. What they're doing is like trying to ban murder and then passing individual laws: banning murder for hire, murder for insurance money, murder due to anger, murder for fun, etc... Just ban it, for fuck's sake.

Of course, what they really want to do is pander to minorities. They will accomplish much less by passing a single law to ban discrimination based on race than if they pass a law banning discrimination for non-job related in general, but the minorities will love them more for the passing of the former, less effective law. It makes them feel like the government is looking out for them.

I wonder what would happen if those politicians were required to marry off their daughters via Affirmative Action. That is, a percentage of them would have to marry a minority. If they feel it's okay to infringe on business property (which is just as private as any other property), why not infringe on their families? I'm guessing they would find it more revolting than all business owners combined.

Your proposed law is comically over broad. What, after all, is not related to the job in some way? Of course that's what you want, a return to discrimination against anybody for whatever reason.

It is an asinine bill that is nothing more than a way to open the gate to make homosexuals official minorities.
"Perceived sexual preference"...now just how in the hell would they enforce this? Someone sues someone, and the judge is supposed to determine whether the employer THOUGHT he/she was homosexual???
We do not need yet another minority status for Gods sake.

Uhm, when did it become ANYONES right to use my property? And yes, my business is my property, I own it, not you, not anyone, no one as a right to a job, or a right to be served by a private citizen.

A quick re-think......

If this thing passes it could provide many people with opportunities that they other wise could not cash in on. For example, A minority registered government contractor gets preferrential treatment when contracts are awarded. They also have access to other benefits like low interest loans, training, business start up capital, etc.

The point I'm making is that I can't pull off telling the govt I'm black, hispanic, native American, etc..............but I can damn sure tell 'em I'm gay.........and my wife's a lesbian.

Much easier to say you're gay on an application to improve your chances.

Nobody is discriminated against. Not when it comes to making money.
