U.S. troop funds diverted to pet projects

They say the road to hell is paved with good intentions, but somehow to take critical money away from the Pentagon’s Operation’s and Maintenance budget (used for repairs, food, training, etc.) and pay for Senator’s pet projects in their home states is detestable in my opinion in light of two wars going on overseas. And one wonders why troop morale my be low and the military is losing respect for this administration.

What I don't get is how we can spend $150billion a year for regular operations and maintenance to have a military, and the need an extra $80 billion to deploy it.

I think if we spent a little more to stockpile ammo, equipment, fuel and spare vehicle parts during peacetime, we wouldn't need war supplemental budgets.

From the article:

Among the 778 such projects, known as earmarks, packed into the bill: $25 million for a new World War II museum at the University of New Orleans and $20 million to launch an educational institute named after the late Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, Massachusetts Democrat.

Disgraceful. While the Left is cutting SDI development they find plenty of reasons for Pork.

Come on, Commodore. If you had a Lamborghini in your garage and you only started it once a week and took it for a leisurely spin around the block, you would have a reasonable expectation it would last longer than driving it 200 mph everyday. The tracks on a M-1 tank are worn out after 1000 miles.
