Besides I'm not liberal, although its clear that I do overvalue my self worth. Libertarian is probably the closest label, although I disagree with many details of their principles as well.

Here's more dem/rep lib/con financial comparisons:

Bulls, Bears, Donkeys and Elephants

By TOMMY McCALL

Since 1929, Republicans and Democrats have each controlled the presidency for nearly 40 years. So which party has been better for American pocketbooks and capitalism as a whole? Well, here’s an experiment: imagine that during these years you had to invest exclusively under either Democratic or Republican administrations. How would you have fared?

As of Friday, a $10,000 investment in the S.& P. stock market index* would have grown to $11,733 if invested under Republican presidents only, although that would be $51,211 if we exclude Herbert Hoover’s presidency during the Great Depression. Invested under Democratic presidents only, $10,000 would have grown to $300,671 at a compound rate of 8.9 percent over nearly 40 years.

Jeez, I'm sorry to overgeneralize your views. Irony much?

I said that was my impression, I asked how far off it is.

Apparently I hit the mark?!

(and you've got to be kidding, hell half the US thinks Montana is a country, the other half thinks we still fight off the Indians from our covered wagons). Why just last month we got electricity!

Nah, they're funny because Virginia certainly does have a reputation for being a 'redneck hillbilly state', despite the fact that we have some of the best public schools in the country, some of the best universities, the 9th highest median family income in the US, and ranked the 5th best state to live in the country, etc. etc....

I think you are as bad as the people that think all the blacks that live in the ghetto are stupid niggers that don't know a thing.

I'm not surprised when conservatives call anyone who disagrees with them a liberul. I was just clarifying it in case anyone really cared (which I realize they probably don't).

I have been to Ohio, and most people finished high school there, and a lot of them have college degrees as well!

Good thing I'm a libertarian that regularly agrees with posters on the left on many issues.

The funny thing is, most of those people never got past 8th grade either (the racist whites I mean). Every black person I've met in MT has a college degree or is taking college classes.

And Virginia ranks higher in citizens who have bachelors degrees (9th) than Ohio (34th). We're practically flooded with geniuses over here!

I think I may be coming off harsher in my posts than my actual tone. The point I'm trying to make is just because someone hasn't finished the 8th grade doesn't mean they are a stupid (fill in the blank) and just because someone has their doctorate doesn't mean they are necessarily intelligent.

edit: I'm just tired of "rednecks" being painted as the people that don't have a real voice.

You did phrase it relatively neutral, but the article itself is titled:
"Democrats lock Republicans out of committee room - TheHill.com"

All I was doing was pointing out to people who might skim the story and see dems as the 'bad guys', to actually take note that BOTH parties do these kinds of stunts.

The Raw Story | Dems locked out of debate on sweeping and controversial REAL ID Act

Maybe if the dems wait until the next natural disaster hits the world, and passes healthcare reform as part of an aid bill, then its acceptable - because that's how the republicans did it for one of their issues.

Yes, I agree the dems and the republicans are both sides of the same plastic coin. My goal was to point out the hypocrisy of republican outrage over this situation, maybe they're just angry they never thought to have the locks changed on their watch.

dude...
thank you Mr CNN "middle of the road, equity cheif defender of the faith"...hey I wrote a skit on Obama, want me to fax it to you so you can fact check it?

Well, I think both sides just like the power and aren't much different from each other. I mean, there are plenty of left wing communities that do much better than their right wing brethren (Virginia, for example, where the liberal north pretty much bankrolls the entire conservative rest of the state) and neither side is exempt from wanting to take advantage of any sort of powers.

Both sides just want power and they just want the other side to shut the hell up.
shit, maybe a few duels would clean out some of the dead wood.....'bring it on'!!!

Absolutely true. I know ranchers who are incredibly smart, and probably never made it through high school. I also know some pretty stupid people with bachelor's degrees, and even a couple of idiots with PhD's (although its rare it can happen). I also know some incredible geniuses with PhDs.

At least I didn't bring up the whole marrying their first cousin thing!
