News Headlines - House votes to turn down volume of noisy TV ads : Townhall.com
The above bill is the kind of thing we need congress for. They should be concentrating their efforts on this kind of thing and stay the fuck out of healthcare and the economy. This is why we elect their stupid asses to take care of shit like the above.

Yes less annoyance is good, but it is sad that we need congress to pass this kind of law.. that we the people have told the stations to stop this,, but no they would not.. so we get the Government to pass another law for the books..
Government Should Fear the People That Voted Them In!!

I really expected to see a photo of some congressman taking a nap in the House while in session.

A friend of mine is a producer, working at Sony Studios in Hollywood. He gave my daughter and me a tour one day, and we went into the “sound lab” where they were mixing a new pilot. Along with the new pilot, they had some mock-up commercials. Every single one of them was louder. When I asked why, I was told it was because, when a commercial comes on, that’s when you make a run to the fridge, or the bathroom, or do anything other than watch television. The sponsors want to be sure you hear their ad.
It made perfect sense, although I’d never really thought about it before.
Now, I can’t help but notice it…
I've noticed it for years, and yes I'm happy they're legislating to stop it.
However, I'm sure some corporation will either lobby to get it canceled or sue to protect corporate person's "freedom of speech" which includes how loudly you can say something.
There are some technologies out there that already auto-correct for the volume of commercials, a free-enterprise solution to a fucked-up free-enterprise problem.
Did you not have a VCR?

Nothing on TV is worth recording anyway. So although I'm very tech savvy, I have never DVR'd anything, because I think the last thing I taped was a few years ago.
