Lyin' Paul Ryan is Such a ... Liar

In two-term president Obama's second Innaugural Address, he said this:

We, the people, still believe that every citizen deserves a basic measure of security and dignity. We must make the hard choices to reduce the cost of health care and the size of our deficit. But we reject the belief that America must choose between caring for the generation that built this country and investing in the generation that will build its future. For we remember the lessons of our past, when twilight years were spent in poverty, and parents of a child with a disability had nowhere to turn. We do not believe that in this country, freedom is reserved for the lucky, or happiness for the few. We recognize that no matter how responsibly we live our lives, any one of us, at any time, may face a job loss, or a sudden illness, or a home swept away in a terrible storm. The commitments we make to each other – through Medicare, and Medicaid, and Social Security – these things do not sap our initiative; they strengthen us. They do not make us a nation of takers; they free us to take the risks that make this country great.
Paul Ryan, cranky that the nation favored the Kenyan over him and his pal Mitt, reacted this way:

No one is suggesting that what we call our earned entitlements — entitlements you pay for, like payroll taxes for Medicare and Social Security — are putting you in a ‘taker’ category. No one would suggest that whatsoever.
No one? Really? "No one would suggest that whatsoever?"

Not ever, never, ever, never, whatsoever and hope to die?

Here's Lyin' Ryan, a few short years ago:

Right now about 60 percent of the American people get more benefits in dollar value from the federal government than they pay back in taxes. So we’re going to a majority of takers versus makers.
And of course we all remember his pal the Mittster being caught unawares on video tape whining along with his rich donors how put upon the upper class is by the "47 percenters."

    As Paul Krugman observes:

If you’re a Randian conservative, as Ryan claims to be, then you should consider Social Security and Medicare every bit as much a part of the moocher conspiracy as Medicaid and food stamps. And don’t say that you pay for what you get: Social Security benefits aren’t proportional to payment, so that the system is somewhat redistributionist, and Medicare benefits don’t depend at all on how much you pay in, so that the system is strongly redistributionist. (You might even say that Medicare takes from each according to his ability, and gives to each according to his needs).

All of this is fine with me, but it should be anathema to Ryan. But he knows that Social Security and Medicare are popular, so he pretends that his radical philosophy has nothing bad to say about these programs, and that we can massively downsize government on the backs of the undeserving poor.

Mother Jones and Paul Krugman as fact checkers?

    Too much...

Meanwhile party hacks like you showed their total lack of class by booing Paul Ryan at the inauguration.

Paul Ryan Booed By Inauguration Crowd

And then people wonder why people can't work together... like you here... every 10 minutes some far left loon, in Washington, is talking trash to our guys. It never ends...

Hmmmm....it's interesting that you made an entire thread about Paul Ryan lying about something and then you failed to demonstrate how he lied. The quote you used made no reference to Social Security or Medicaid/Medicare.

Btw, Krugman is a Keynesian and even Keynes didn't believe his model was viable, by his own words. See my signature below.

Ok, so JPN does not like or agree with Paul Ryan. No real shock, there are probably many "fact checkers" he can use for future drive by threads.

Ryan i feel was speaking more about the benifits that obama has dangled in front of the masses... 3+ years of unemployment, food stamps and free phones. additionally i always interpreted it not to be a bash on people... it was a bash on the president's overall plan that he has doubled down on... "I will give you candy if you vote for me"..... and that wouldnt it be nice to have a country where people are not dependent on the government for their subsistence...

Here's Lyin' Ryan, a few short years ago:
O.K., Ryan was taking aim at those who take from the government. Unfortunately, it is only in your fantasy that he said anything about social security or medicare but, hey, if it's real to you, it must necessarily be real to the rest of us. As you go, so goes the world, ...

And of course we all remember his pal the Mittster being caught unawares on video tape whining along with his rich donors how put upon the upper class is by the "47 percenters."
Also in your fantasy that he was attacking SS and Medicare recipients instead of the lazy, uninformed, welfare recipient who sits on his butt all day long collecting his freebies that Obama keeps extending.

    As Paul Krugman observes:
Krugman offers and opinion about what you should think ... he mentions Paul Ryan in the expression of his opinion but, as with your opinion, Krugman's statement doesn't define Ryan (or anyone) for the rest of the world.

Ladies, Gentlemen, and Conservatives, I give you...

    Jon Stewart.

Hear those people laughing? They're laughing at the meager excuses made by you conservatives above.

Do you have the guts to watch it through to the end?

    Doubt it.

They can laugh until the takers take all there is to take and the makers have no more to give. Then they won't be laughing so hard.

What do you think about lyin' Paul Ryan using Social Security to help pay his way through college? Should we vote "takers" like that into public office? Aren't we just rewarding them for theirm mootching?

Last I knew, we could vote anyone we want into office, even those who run gay brothels in their basement, those who drive their girlfriends off bridges and those who have sex in the Oval Office.
