George H W Bush promoting the moonies AGAIN!

This is starting to get really weird. Once again the president's father is working to form one world religion/government under Rev Sun Myung Moon the "True Father". Bush gave the keynote address at the "The Americas Summit" - a big moonie event in Washington. The summit included a tour of the moonie paper Washington Times and a trip to texas for many of the attendees to tour the Bush presidential library. This is Bush's third (I think) such performance. A couple years ago Moon managed to get himself crowned in the Dirksen Building with a bunch of congressmen attending. Now he seems to have brought a former president of the US on board as a permanent fixture in his cause.

Exaclty!! How the fuck is it possible that our elected representatives and the former president could be involved with such a nutcase? How is it possible that a man who thinks he is God can have so many powerful friends and so much political influence? If you figure it out let me know.

Is it ridiculous that a religious freak who believes he is god has an inside track to some of our country's most powerful people? Absolutely! Is it ridiculous to be curious how such a thing happens? I don't think so.

No you're right, you're curiosity isn't ridiculous, its pathetic.

The thread and post however is beyond sanity, does anyone have a clue as to what this all meant to be about?

Sorry I just don't get what it is you're saying here. Are you claiming it's pathetic to wonder about Moon and his political influence? I wonder if you would tell me why because to me it seems like a natural concern of any american.

Are you claiming bush senior is not shilling for moon and the rev wasn't crowned in the dirksen building? I'd be happy to link to the many other reports of these events but you might better just look it up yourself if you think I'm lying about it.

Or are you saying you don't understand what I'm talking about? Feel free to read the links I provided or find your own. I'm sure the multiple sources that have reported these things explain it much more clearly than I do.

Is this a huge deal? I don't think so, but I do think it's interesting and worthy of a bit of discussion. I mean, imagine the reaction if heavy weight politicians began showing up at Scientology events? It seems like that would be pretty much the same thing as this.

Perhaps in order to get serious responses it might be important to emphasize that your bewilderment here is nonpartisan and you did not start this thread to suggest that the Republican Party is a front for the Moonies.

Unless, of course, you did.

I don't know. The only difference between this and the major religions is that this guy is still alive, it's newer, and it doesn't have as many followers.

WTF is the meaning of this grotesque BS? Congressmembers and old Bush attended the ceremony?
Damn I knew they were nuts, I just knew it. Do they wrap their heads in aluminium foil, too?
