And your first remark is right on.
Hey, that ROCKS. I learned at a seminar once that Cleopatra wore the essential oil of persimmons to help her seduce Marc Anthony. A little while after that I saw some ripe persimmons growing so I brought some of them home and extracted the essential oil. It was a REALLY nice fragrance. Not at all perfumy, but very nice.

I don't know if this site is still going or not: The Shop at Irma Shorell Long Lost Perfume

They have bought formulas of discontinued perfumes and are now making them. Some they have to NAME something different because of copyright issues on the names, but the formulas are the real thing and they tell you. I have bought My Sin, Great Lady, Jungle Gardenia, and Evening in Paris. It is like having my girlhood back! But those perfumes from days gone by are just too strong to wear much.

Now I wear Gevency Ysatis, and Indescence. But I have many perfumes in my collection--which I started after reading Jitterbug Perfume. An old one I liked and still have in my collection is Charlie.

Over all, I really like the ones from the great French perfume houses. I bought perfume that cost $100 an ounce when I only made $80 a week. Aroma Therpay.............

yes I hate cloying perfume, overly ripe with sweeter nuances.

The interesting thing is that I like delicate perfume and delicate CHEESE! Must have an overdeveloped sense of smell or something.
