What is it with CNN and race?

A couple months ago (and presently), CNN was adding a dash of race to nearly every story. Then when Jimmy Carter came along with his "disagree with Obama and you're doing it because you're a racist" analogy which seemed to kick CNN into high gear. Now they run these bleeding heart series.....Black in America..........Hispanic in America.
I suppose they'll soon have gay in America, red haired step children of America, whatever. What I'm trying to figure out is what is their true motivation behind all this? The stories they present and the way the are presented obviously do not promote racial harmony, their message seems to be that any advances we have made in race relations are purely mythical.
So what do you think their true motivation is?

They wish to create controversy where none exists...

I guess we should just ignore the issues of race and ethnicity in the US?

Except, of course, that they were running Black in America long before Carter ever chimed in. Oopsie.

I suppose they could do a "People Who Make Shit Up About CNN in America" series.

I admit I haven't watched Black in America or Hispanic in America (though I have the latter recorded). Are they really bad? I mean, I would imagine that they are just somewhat fluffy. Who knows, maybe they really delve into the real issues about being, well, Latino in America.

The issue is that CNN does it so much, it negates those times when race really is an issue. You can only cry "wolf" so many times before people start ignoring you...

They do it a lot? Black in America, Black in America 2, Latino in America... three times?

Re: What is it with CNN and race?

I wonder why insight stories about minority groups make rightys so uncomfortable. CNN fills the day -- lots of stuff is uninteresting or boring or seemingly pointless. That's what the remote is for.

But stories talking about ethnic minorities, whether uplifting or troubling always seem to chap rightys and make them uncomfortable. What's up with that?

Yes, because the three examples given are surely the only three times they've ever done it...

Gee, wasn't a coloblind society, as opposed to a race-obsessed society the goal of the left at one time, before they discovered the electoral benefits of racial preferences for their supporters?

Well, I've yet to see "White in America" or "Asian in America", so... yeah, two and three respectively are "a lot" by comparison. And the number is most likely far higher if you count repeat airings.

Unless, of course, you're positing that asians and whites don't face any unique challenges and that there aren't any asian or white folks who are in a bad way. Or, alternately, that blacks and latinos don't watch CNN. So yeah, I'd say its racial bullshit.

Re: What is it with CNN and race?

Perfect.........! So I'm surfing' the channels tonight and CNN is airing "Black Men in the age of President Obama"......Another "special" from the new "In Living Color" channel.
Maybe Obama can teach them to stop shooting each other and start raising the babies they make.
