The Woodstock crowd pushed for changes that they wanted, got them, and then were satisfied. So, yesterday's liberals (as always) turned into today's conservatives. In 40 years, when the changes sought by this generation's youth have been adopted and codified, they will be the conservatives that are leery of whatever the children of 2049 want to change.

Absolutely some did in fact change, David Horowitz is a fantastic example of this but these former hippies are responsible for our currant new age progressive liberal party.

You can bet your ass these progressives in office today were the hippie kids going to "peace rally's" in the 60's and 70's.

The worst thing that liberals have done is let conservatives taint the word to have bad connotations. Strangely, although they have succeeded in tainting the word 'liberal', conservatives have destroyed the word conservatism by backing candidates who ramp up deficits and who pride themselves in passing obtrusive government laws into people's private lives. To me, conservatism USED to mean smaller less obtrusive government which was fiscally responsible. I defy anyone to show me that has been the direction behind the GOP of the past 20 years.

In their attempts to ruin the opposition party, conservatives ruined their own as well.

One of the funniest things I ever saw was a news report where Ayers was bothered by a Fox reporter outside his home and called the police. There are no limits to hypocrisy.

no. It was people that were there then doing the talking.

No doubt at the time it was "trendy" to be in the movement and a lot of those involved grew up, moved on and learned that capitalism wasn't evil.

But yea the core stuck with the movement and got into politics and other forms of activism.

Just a thought here JD, but in the woodstock days those people (hippies) were the liberals of the day......they were all about being "free". The liberals today are all about imposing a plethera of rules , regulations, criteria, etc on everyone to make them obey the liberal vision for America, and in a lot of cases, the world. So yeah, WTF happened? Look at liberal California, there are probably the least free people in the union. Sitting here in Texas I have to laugh at what Californians have allowed to happen to themselves. Liberal freedon indeed.
