Woodstock Generation...WTF happened?

I caught myself watching a documentary on Woodstock a couple of days ago and while watching I couldn't help but wonder when did liberalism separate itself from liberty? Would that crowd of kids support what has happened and what is looming on the horizon?

Coercive egalitarianism, central planning, rejecting personal responsibility and government oversight of free institutions are all part of modern liberalism that seem so very far from the ideals of Woodstock.

WTF happened?

That isn't liberalism.

Re: Woodstock Generation...WTF happened?

The woodstock generation grew up (obviously), and became more conservative in the process. According to my anecdotal observation, that is.

Because it's sort of comforting to keep what you work for ? So they accept central planning and lack of personal responsibility in the process?

I don't know. From what I see from the Democrats, they have turned into a bunch of marxist and socialist looking for some bullshit utopia.

That's not what I've seen happening. I know ex-hippies from the woodstock generation, who are now in favor of personal responsiblity (for the most part).

No we wouldn't. I was there back 40 years ago. While we were about personal freedom (I still am), we were also aware of our responsibilities. We gave freely of our possessions, but resented forced charity by government. In fact, we resented government and wanted it less intrusive in our lives. Maybe I haven't changed all that much.....
