Coming from a bear like you, that's kinda funny.

Again, that would be funny, if you'd ever kissed a girl.

Let us know when that happens. I'm guessing it's when you move out of your mom's house.

Re: V: The New Series or Obama Takes Manhattan

Silly me, watching silly things like election returns when the real action was on network TV. I guess I'll have to download it.

But the simple fact that they strategically locate ships over major population centers should have been a dead giveaway of ill intent. Like ACORN. A polite alien would stay at EML1 until invited. As should ACORN.

I enjoyed the politicking of BSG, because it never descended to the level of "It's all a figment of our imagination" or "It's all our fault".

Heh, good point.

Re: V: The New Series or Obama Takes Manhattan

The original V was very political. It was supposedly a SF version of Sinclair Lewis' It Can't Happen Here

It was originally to be a straight political thriller about the rise of Fascism in the US but TV execs wanted a SF thing. (all from wiki)

Which to me always made it pretty much fuckiing silly. If you have technology that allows you to bring ships the size of a city over the city itself and a fascist ideology you simply go over the city and the first thing you show isn't a pretty woman but the head of the President, sans body. If you want to take over and have overwhelming force why sneak around?

Like Bart Simpson said, "We have met with your President. He was delicious"

I finally watched the pilot on Hulu yesterday. So far I am not impressed. I completely lacks the subtlety of the original mini-series. It was an hour to an hour and a half before you got any clue about the reptilian nature of the visitors.

Re: V: The New Series or Obama Takes Manhattan

My HS buddys were right.

I WOULD fuck a snake given the right circumstances

And was V all that simple a good/evil thing really? as I remember there were good and bad V's, and they were even capable of creating Human/Reptile hybrids

In fact, they were the original intelligent inhabitants of Earth, intelligent dinosaurs whose ancestors had sent out colonists and then blown themselves up. (or is that another story?)

I totally agree. But then again in the modern ADD/twitter/impatient gotta have it now society anything that takes longer than a few seconds to develop is considered horrible and subtlty is a 8 ounce hammer instead of a 10 pound sledgehammer.

And if one had to choose Morena or Jane badler why not try for both. You might die but at least they wouldnt be able to close the coffin lid!!!!

No, that was an episode of Star Trek: Voyager

Was that Voyager? Mebbe I shouldn't have done all the medicinal herb by the tv.

It always gets to me how it's a very well known fact that most all the animals on Earth cannot interbreed (it's the very definition of separate species actually) yet we are constantly expected to easily have children with the inhabitants of another entire planet.

Carl Sagan said it best. How can we breed with beings who are completely alien to every form of life on Earth when we can't even breed with our cousins, the Trees.?

Well, in the original "V", it was something particular to the human mother's DNA that made her particularly suited to the interbreeding (along with some scientific assistance from Diana presumably). Also, it is not inconceivable that a civilization that masters interstellar travel would also have some pretty advanced techniques for interbreeding.

True. One would be tempted to ask why but then there is rishathra (Larry Niven's term for sex with aliens.)

And while they said they wanted water if I remember correctly they actually wanted humans as food, slaves and cannon fodder.

Which in the final analysis is still silly, humans would willingly breed unintelligent humans for food if they knew how and probably eat them themselves. Why do they need slaves when even WE already have the tech to make robots? and humans are always eager to be cannon fodder for somebody somewhere.

I have never yet seen an aliens conquer earth scenario that makes ANY sense.

They claimed to want assistance in producing a special chemical needed to clean their planet's environment. What they really wanted was the water and humans as food, slaves, and cannon fodder for their great leader's wars.
