So, dont know if anyone saw this last night, but I felt a bit of Obama satire going on. Alien sleeper cells come to Earth to ruin it, then the aliens land and use propaganda to bring us hope and change, including...wait for it...universal health care! Theres also the legion of young brownshirts, the control of the media. This should be interesting with the shoe on the other foot.

And I didnt like it when BSG or Jericho did it to Bush.

Obviously, V-Obama is smarter and more subtle than the V-Anna's. V-Obama has willing propagandists at his beckoning, while V-Anna has to bribe her chief propagandist with the lure of fame (holding out the hope there is some journalistic integrity under all the layers of hypocrisy). Nonetheless, the results are the same.

Yeah, I watched it, and got a good chuckle out of the more obvious satire.

Using a sci-fi tv series to make subtle or not so subtle political statements about BO and his followers. . . . maybe V will drive the libs crazy like the West Wing did for conservatives. Even if the show is genuinely any good, I doubt the libs in Hollywood will nominate it for a Golden Globe.

This show sounds stupid. Sci-fi and politics rarely go well together, unless very well written.

West Wing was pretty honest about its criticism though. V, BSG, Jericho were much more subtle. Come on the aliens are hiding their real intentions, literally. Its like socialistis pretending to be all free market. Rip off their face and theres a hammer and sicle underneath. This is going to be funny.

The universal healthcare bit was one line, so I hardly think it's enough to constitute commentary on the O.

That, and the last shot of Anna, when she was looking out the window of the ship, it showed how wide her hips are. And, of course, that she's actually a reptile, a power-mad alien that seduces (the reporter) others with power to get them to compromise their principles?

Sounds like a Republican woman to me.

Methinks someone is looking too deeply into an ABC remake of a 80's scifi classic...

Agreed. There is also the fact that this new series has been in the works since before Obama was elected. Coincidence, nothing more.

I am a liberal, a classical liberal. Classical liberalism is liberalism, but the current collectivists have captured that designation in the United States. In Europe they are glad enough to call themselves socialists. But no one in America wants to be called socialist and admit what they are.

Perhaps, but TV and movies are the idea medium for making a political statement since they usually have a wider audience than some other mediums. Also, unlike the news a writer of a tv series or movie is not expected to be "fair and balanced." They can just make their point, political or not, and let the audience figure it out.

No doubt, but the themes mentioned so far that are suppose to relate to Obama are rather universal. The idea of some benevolent force coming to 'save' mankind while having hidden and darker intentions has been done before many times over.

This is like people saying that the Emperor in the new Star Wars movies was a remark on George Bush, which I found just as much of a stretch (especially since The Phantom Menace came out in 99).
