Don't let your Cell Phone use make you look rude and self centered.

Talking on your cell phone in your car - Is dangerous. RUDE

Talking on your cell phone at your job - Your employer isn't paying you to talk to your freinds and family. SELF CENTERED

Talking on your cell phone at the local grocery or Dept. Store - Others don't care to hear one side of your conversation. RUDE AND SELF CENTERED

    'Distracted driving' gets more attention

    ....... ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

The federal government is ramping up an educational campaign against "distracted driving," reinforced by an array of new state laws against texting or talking on a cell phone while driving. Some penalize the behavior; others even criminalize it.

    Thanks speak

It seemed worth mentioning that our govt seems to have to create a lot of laws to "protect us from ourselves" nowdays.

It's unfortunate that many of us don't see how rude we are when we're at work or in public yakking one of our "walky talkies." That many of us are so dumb we'll do it when we're driving, endangering the lives of others, is kind of surprising.

I guess I'm still young enough to be surprised at the ubiquity of foolishness.

Don't worry; laws regulating cell phone use, at least in cars, are just around the corner (so to speak).

What worries me is that laws are needed.

Now that we seem to be unable to control ourselves our govt. must do it for us.

When someone talking on a cell phone runs me over in the supermarket I just escuse them and tell them I am SO sorry about their auditory hallucinations! If given half a chance, I recommend a medication!

I guess it depends on how you feel about DUI. If you think DUI itself shouldn't be punished and only actually breaking traffic laws or harming others should be punished, then laws against cell-phone usage wouldn't be proper either. However, if you think DUI in itself is a crime then this would also be proper as it's been proven time and again that cell phone usage causes impairment (this is mostly directed at txting and driving).

    Re: Cell Phones

Two women came in my store a couple of days ago, both looking a little spaced out and one was on the phone. Her side of the conversation went like this:

"I just found out I'm fucking pregnant and that motherfucker was cheating on me."

"I just want the $300 that bastard owes me."

"I got 30 minutes to be there or I fucking lose it."

"It's all that motherfucker's fault...I just want my fucking money."

I was working the register at the time and couldn't leave it but called for the other manager who had the woman leave the store. The customers who were in line had different reactions...one man said, dripping with sarcasm, "Now that's a real lady." An older woman said something about in her day people didn't air their dirty laundry that way.

As for talking and driving, I do it but view it as being no different than eating and driving. If I'm driving in an unfamiliar area, I'm less likely to eat or use the phone but my everyday drives are on roads that I've driven since I was 14 years old and I'm comfortable with them.

When life takes you to the end of the road, kick it into four wheel drive and make your own.

    Re: Cell Phones

I have to admit that I'm bad about texting and driving. Lately, I've been trying not to do it, after I almost rear-ended a few folks. Don't wanna wait until I have an accident to decide not to do it anymore.

I try not to talk much on the cell phone, while driving either. Not as bad as texting, but it's still a distraction for me.

I definitely don't text while driving!!! The other day, I was driving along without paying much attention (I wasn't on the phone...just daydreaming) and I came to an intersection and stopped. The problem is that after driving that road over half my life, the city decided to remove the stop sign a couple of years ago but I still stop occasionally out of habit.

I've done that before. Hell, I've even caught myself waiting at a stop sign, before realizing there was no light that was gonna turn green. Usually happens when I'm talking to someone sitting next to me.

It's a bit different if you're talking to someone who's actually in the vehicle. While it is a distraction, you also have another set of eyes inside the car; someone to say "what the hell are you waiting for" while you're waiting for the stop sign to turn green.

I have a solution for both of you

    It will be fun to.

    Once.

    Get yourself a hammer.

Take yourself and your walkie talkie outside on to a paved surface somewhere.

Smash that ridiculous device into little flat peices. Don't allow yourself to buy another one. Ever.

Please don't tell me; "I couldn't live without it."

Humans have lived without walkie squackies until just a few short years ago, you'll be fine
