...of where their food comes from.
Kinda makes you wonder what they are paying all that money for if they are going to act like kindergartners at the first sight of reality.UM students horrified by bunny butchering stunt

ORONO, Maine — Some shocked University of Maine students and a faculty member stopped a classmate from demonstrating how to butcher and skin a live rabbit on Saturday during their course on documentary filmmaking.
“When he whipped out the knife, people started screaming, crying, running out of the room,” said student Chris Michaud. “It was kind of surreal.”
The rabbit’s close call happened during final presentations for the Camden International Film Festival Course in the Arthur Hill Auditorium in Barrows Hall. About 60 students and one professor were present when senior English major Dane Bolding walked to the front of the class after lunch with the rabbit in a box and a plan.
“I feel like documentary films often put a lot in front of us,” Bolding said Tuesday in a telephone interview. “I guess that my intention was to really put something in front of the class.”
Bolding said that he has taught himself how to butcher and skin animals because he wants to know where his food comes from. He also said that people eat meat but don’t want to know the violence behind how animals are slaughtered and how the food is prepared.
“I feel that we try and hide all of our ugliness,” Bolding said.
....
Grillo said that after the incident, he pulled Bolding into the hallway and gave him a piece of his mind.
“I told him that this was one of the most reprehensible acts I’ve ever seen,” he said.
One woman in the class, who witnessed the presentation but didn’t want to be identified, said the class was a “complete and horrible mess” after Bolding’s actions and that some women were calling for him to be expelled.
“What did this have to do with documentary films?” she asked. “This wasn’t a class on cadavers.”

"My country is the world, and my religion is to do good." --Thomas Paine
I swear...first it was TV and then the internet....folks are just so very, very divorced from reality nowadays.
I will suggest that he probably wouldn't have got that reaction if he had explained what he was going to do in advance but, then again, he probably wouldn't have been allowed to do it at that point either.
An interesting observation on this reaction from people came from a language guy. We Saxons (or is it us Anglos?) use short, pithy, one syllable names for our animals. Pig, dog, duck, cow, goat, goose, horse, and so on. But when we talk of the food, it has foreign words and more syllables. Cutlet, hamburg, tenderloin, fillet minion. sausage, bacon, etc. But then, we also have steak, stew, soup, and roast.
Never mind.
"There is no gain in arguing with a poo flinging monkey. While his
gibbering and raucous cries of victory may seem obnoxious in your ears
as you walk away, he will soon be quietly sitting behind his bars again
and licking his own feces off his fingers as you carry on with your day."

Sounds similar to the reaction my 8th grade biology class had when we watched a video of a woman with quite possibly the hairiest vagina in the world give birth.
They all knew where babies came from, but watching it was something completely different. And, you know, all the hair.

See, we should all get our meat from the grocery store where no animals are killed or injured.
Take a good hard look, it's coming.

Yah, I've run into people who can't identify fried chicken parts. & also people who can't cut cleanly through cooked whole chicken/turkey - they can't seem to find the joints.
Scary, yes?
"No free government, or the blessings of liberty, can be preserved to any people but by a firm adherence to justice, moderation, temperance, frugality, and virtue; and by a frequent recurrence to fundamental principles."

"Feminization" = emotion-based decision making?
That doesn't scan - in our technic society, most people don't know how to hunt, trap, fish, dress out a carcass. That doesn't make them less people - it just means that most of us don't hunt, fish, etc. It's a rare person in the US who is actually self-sufficient - can raise or hunt his own food, grow his own crops, raise cotton, spin, dye, knit, sew & on & on.
I never learned to bake - I'm sure I could learn, but it just didn't appeal to me. & as it's not a survival skill, I've let it go. It would be better if everyone knew the effort that goes into food, manufacturing, cleaning, mechanics & so on. But that's reasoning that everyone would benefit from sympathising with the work that is represented by the final product, not merely so that we can all feel like Menshes.
