Thread: The Koran is a Hate Filled Holy Book

The discussion of the Koran, and Maher's assertion that it is a hate-filled book is being disucssed in the context of why he believes this, but chooses to not believe something similar of the Christian Bible. It's demonstrating the hypocrisy of his beliefs.

The topic of the thread is the Koran. Mayer did not ask the guest to discuss the Bible. The Bible is not the topic of this thread. Why can you not discuss on topic?

It has been explaned to you, but for whatever reason you're choosing to ignore that. You clearly have no interest in the topic based on the fact that you have made no contributory posts in this thread aise from critiquing the posts of other members. If you're not interested in this thread, why are you here?

I am waiting for all you self proclaimed scholars of religion in general and islam in particular to discuss the TOPIC, but no one ever does. When the Koran comes into it you all do a 180 and start discussing the Bible, Christian or Jewish. Since the Koran was written several hundred years after those other two books, they in no way relate to what is in the Koran.

Why can you not just discuss the Koran which in no way whatsoever has anything to do with earlier texts.

I am VERY interested in the TOPIC....the actual topic of the thread.

I'm not sure if you're pretending to be ignorant or not, but I said:

even the Christian Bible advocates death to all non-believers

You challenged me to prove my statement, and I provided you several direct quote from The (Christian) Bible doing just that. Your turn.

You pulled quotes from Judaic scripts. Christians are not under Judaic law. Are Christians required to sacrifice animals? Do we have to be circumcised? Are there dietary concerns? No? Why is that? Oh...I know, it's because that's not Christianity nor is it something found in Christian texts.

I thought you were going to "go there". No whe in my reading of The Bible does it highlight differences between different scripts; just as no whee in the Koran does it do this. Why do people support the view that The Bible can have different interpretations, but not the Koran, despite the fact that Islam has just as many different religious interrepatations as Christianity does?

Elliston and Maher are idiots.

I have to say I'm somewhat impressed by Bill's stand -- not because I agree (I don't know anything about the Koran) -- but because this clearly goes against the wishes of his audience. It's good for any of us to be challenged especially by our own kind.
