    Deranged Media

    As he says:

what we're experiencing is a move on the part of the oddballs not to secure their own rights, but to deny and disparage the rights of others to disagree with them and their choices.

What is ironic is how the left rambles on endlessly about "diversity," "freedom" and "rights," yet turns around and aggressively attacks the freedoms and rights of people that aren't carbon copies of themselves ! - I thought diversity was something we wanted ?

Conform to the liberal Gestapo or be slaughtered

Leftists rave endlessly on about Christian "phobia" this and conservative "hateful" that while they argue in support of their own styles and brands of phobias and hatreds !! - calling them other things of course

    As he points out:

..a systemic problem of inconsistency on the left..

It's not inconsistency, the left is consistently deranged. The leftist media is consistently deranged.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------

CNN host Don Lemon recently became the latest in a string of high-profile individuals to "come out of the closet" and inform everyone who would listen that he enjoys practicing homosexuality.

..why do the very people who constantly tell us that what a person does in their bedroom is no one else's business, simultaneously find it necessary to inform everyone of what they do in their bedroom? If this is a private matter, Don, then let's keep it private.

...it's just kind of creepy that these proponents of sexual anarchy feel it is their civic duty to incessantly shove their unconventional behavior in front of our children's faces.

Lemon's home network of CNN has become notorious for their one-sided reporting of the emerging face-off between homosexual rights claims of sexual anarchists on the left and the rights of conscience for the traditional morality crowd on the right.

Homophobia has become a buzzword that is ceaselessly applied to anyone with moral objections to homosexuality. In her celebratory interview with Lemon, congratulating him for telling everyone who he enjoys having sex with, uber-leftist Joy Behar demonstrated this very truth. She asked Lemon: "And so you're going to have people sit there with you like Rick Santorum, who seems like a big homophobe...how do you feel that you'll be able to handle that easily?"

Geez, Joy, maybe like every Christian feels when they sit down to talk with a Christophobe like you? And that's the point: far from eliminating discrimination and prejudice, these homosexual rights champions who dominate the press and entertainment world are advocating their own version of bigotry towards those who espouse biblical morality.

If Lemon really wanted to demonstrate courage, let's see him "come out" in the media as a Bible-believing, born-again follower of Jesus Christ whose faith teaches him that homosexuality is morally improper. Rather than basking in the glow of the entertainment crowd's unyielding affection, he would be immediately tarred and feathered for his draconian allegiance to discriminatory and prejudicial fairy tales coming from an ancient, bigoted book.

In our pop culture, courage is apparently a one-way street. This reality was further demonstrated by former NBA star turned social commentator Charles Barkley's recent comments to Washington Post columnist Mike Wise. Praising Phoenix Suns president Rick Welts for his courage in announcing -- what else -- that he was "gay," Barkley opined: "The first people who whine and complain is them Bible-thumpers, who are supposed to be non-judgmental, who rail against them. Hey, man, I don't worry about what other people do."

In case you're wondering, no, Charles didn't notice the irony of claiming he doesn't care about what people do the sentence right after he viciously condemned "Bible-thumping" people for what they do. Perhaps I'm expecting too much intellectual integrity from a man whose most famous contribution to his profession was spitting on opposing fans in the crowd. But Barkley's glaring hypocrisy is reflective of a systemic problem of inconsistency on the left.

That inconsistency is what leads us to a culture where someone as genial and pleasant as Dr. James Dobson is branded a hater, while someone as vile and perverted as Lady Gaga is hailed as a courageous trailblazer.

In the end, it's not the presence of decadence in our culture that is the issue. Free societies will always produce the occasional oddball, and embracing liberty means securing the basic rights of those who are different. But what we're experiencing is a move on the part of the oddballs not to secure their own rights, but to deny and disparage the rights of others to disagree with them and their choices. If outlawing decadence is bigoted, codifying it is even worse.

Whatever increases your paranoia is just fine with me. People usually screw themselves when they are fearful.

I know ... I know it's "paranoid" to point out the hypocrisy and double standards of liberals and the left leaning mainstream media

It is ironic is how the left rambles on endlessly about "diversity," "freedom" and "rights," yet turns around and aggressively attacks the freedoms and rights of people that aren't carbon copies of themselves ! - I thought diversity was something we wanted ? ... it obviously is not.

Then they try to find ways to dismiss these truths when they're pointed out. They say things like; "Whatever increases your paranoia is just fine with me. People usually screw themselves when they are fearful."

"... If this is a private matter, Don, then let's keep it private. Perhaps I'm the only one who feels this way, but frankly, I don't care to know what kind of sex the evening news anchor is into. Beyond it being remarkably irrelevant to the dissemination of news, it's just kind of creepy that these proponents of sexual anarchy feel it is their civic duty to incessantly shove their unconventional behavior in front of our children's faces.

"... That inconsistency is what leads us to a culture where someone as genial and pleasant as Dr. James Dobson is branded a hater, while someone as vile and perverted as Lady Gaga is hailed as a courageous trailblazer.

(My emphasis) Mr. Heck complains about the "endless litany of interviews that applaud the recently outed individual's courage and fortitude", apparently not knowing that the first meaning of "litany" is a call and response prayer - a meaning a careful writer would not confuse with his own suffering.

The same for "dissemination" - Latin for spreading seed - yes, "semen". Unless he's making some kind of twisty joke? "Sexual anarchy" is a phrase he likes, he uses it again in slightly different makeup later. It does have a nice ring to it, until you realize that the Bible - & the Torah before that - railed against a man lying with a man as with a woman. So that this particular "anarchy" apparently has a very long pedigree. Which in turn, gives the lie to the claim of "anarchy". After all, if the "errant" behavior dates back to pre-Biblical times, & Jehovah, torah, Bible & assorted hierarchies have been fighting against homosexuality ever since - where is the victory?

"shove their unconventional behavior in front of our children's faces" is at least a change - I was beginning to think that the phrase "shove their _______ down our throats" was a set phrase. I don't see why children are invoked here - do the Heck children routinely watch CNN?

"uber-leftist Joy Behar demonstrated this very truth." "uber" apparently being meant to invoke the horrors of Nazi Germany. But it misses the point, the Nazis - after holding a putsch to rid themselves of their own homosexuals, frenziedly pursued homosexuals right unto the death camps. & Hitler was supposedly a good Catholic - & the Nazi regime negotiated agreements on the Jewish question in Germany with the Vatican. The notion of the Super race owes a lot to US race notions that were exported to Europe. & in fact Indiana put eugenics policy into effect @ the state prisons, homes for the feeble-minded, "reform schools", orphanages, etc. Forced sterilizations - without consent - were the rule. Of course, this was the 1920's - when Indiana nearly became a KKK satrapy. (& IBM helped sort the race/religion data for the Nazis.)

Yep, James Dobson cultivates a nice avuncular persona on TV & radio. But if I understand his theology correctly, he feels he's the virtuous man par excellence, & by definition can do no wrong. Lady Gaga, of course, cultivates a shocking persona on stage - that's her stock in trade, at least for now. If you're going to compare them, you probably need to compare their off-camera personas. The adjectives ascribed to the actors are not accurate - both are donning masks to better fit the demands of their adherents. (Although "fans" would probably be a better term for Lady Gaga's posse. I don't think Dobson would appreciate the term much.)

"Free societies will always produce the occasional oddball, and embracing liberty means securing the basic rights of those who are different." Mr. Heck wants to argue that homosexuals are merely a tolerated minority. As we've seen from our look back @ the misty times of theology, that is not true historically. In this republic, we are guaranteed the freedom to pursue "happiness", among other goods - within the bounds of law.

So long as we don't scare the horses, incite to riot, & a few related prohibitions - we are free to love, live, vote, preach on street corners - & the law of the land is bound to protect us, even as a protesting minority, as long as we observe the legitimate strictures upon our rights.

Mr. Heck knows this at some level - he writes pieces here & there, has a radio show, & teaches government. If he doesn't like the marketplace of ideas, he is free to strike his tent. As long as he doesn't invoke government to enforce his ideas, we can all try to make our case.

    SERIAL KILLERS and PSYCHOPATHOLOGY

I’ve never been a reader of detective stories or, indeed, of much fiction at all in my 60 years of reading life, say, 1951 to 2011. I’ve made up for the dearth of crime fiction in my life by watching who-dun-its by the truck-load since TV came into my life circa 1950. SO MUCH OF THIS MATERIAL IS AN EXAMPLE OF DERANGED MEDIA.

Recently, on 27 March 2011, I watched a 1995 television movie entitled The Stranger Beside Me.(1) In 1995 I was making my initial plans to take an early retirement from the teaching profession, assume a lower profile of activity in the Baha’i community, and take what is called a sea-change in Australia. I did not see that movie back then but, rather, 16 years later during these years of my retirement.

I write about this movie after making some notes and reading about this film. This film about a famous American serial killer between 1974 and 1978 raised in my mind some questions about: the nature of evil, violence, abnormal psychology, psychiatry, deviant behaviour, serial killing, fantasy, motivation, history, popular culture, the media, sadomasochistic pornography, torture, psychopathology, and antisocial personality disorder--and deranged media--inter alia.(2)-Ron Price with thanks to (1) “The Stranger Beside Me,” 1:10 to 2:50 a.m., GO! TV, 28 March 2011“ and (2)"Serial Killers,” Wikipedia,, 3 April 2011.

I never heard of you Ted Bundy.(1)
I was busy teaching in colleges &
    universities between 1974 & 1978
    fighting my own psychopathology.

    My autobiographical & biographical
work is nothing like Ann Rule’s who(2)
was into crime-fiction, true crime &
stuff that made this movie possible.
I don’t think there will ever be a movie
    about me: not enough psychopathology,
    sadomasochistic pornography, torture
and violence, although I could provide
    some content for: psychiatry, abnormal
    psychology and some deviant behaviour.

That book came out just as I was at
last getting stabilized on lithium and(3)
could look forward to some peace &
tranquillity and much less of that sad
    eccentricity associated with abnormal
    psychology and personality disorder.

1 The serial killer in this movie
2 The author of the book about him
