On that list I'd go with Scott Walker. He's been a talking point and catalyst of controversial partisan politics all year, and it's been quite awhile since any state official had that effect that caused notable statewide controversy along with national attention and national blow backs with those following and opposing his lead.

I think that self-immolating street vendor guy in Tunisia wins this one hands down.
Voted for Norquist.
None of the listed people qualify for "person of the year". IMO, this would have been better left open ended.
Take a good hard look, it's coming.

I think his influence on republicans caused unprecedented gridlock in congress this year on many occasions. You can find his fingerprints on just about every major congressional showdown which made for big news and dramatic headlines. I think we saw an increased number of threads and posts in the forum as a result.
Bin laden was a bigger single story but in terms of a news maker on the forum (which I think this poll was intended to find) threads on bin laden were probably less than all the threads on congressional gridlock caused by the no tax pledge.
When I think about it, Norquist fathered the tax debate we have now, and the national debt, with his breakfast meetings.
People heard the tax cut part, but they ignored where he calls for cutting military spending by 80% to pay for the tax cuts.

Vote early and vote often.
I chose Mohamed Bouazizi as he has awakened a consciousness and solidarity among people who feel as they are not a part of their political system the world over. OWS which is in over 2600 cities worldwide probably wouldn't have started without Mr. Bouazizi.
Worldwide class consciousness. It's what it's all about. Maybe the plutocrats are worried for once.
