Well, this woman did kind of opt to marry him even though she knew that he was married when he asked her so I'm not really sure what her expectations were based on.

ahoy all,
this be an excerpt from tonight's interview with Mr. Gingrich's ex-wife;
Marianne Gingrich, Newt Gingrich's Ex-Wife, Says He Wanted An 'Open Marriage' (VIDEO)GINGRICH: I said to him, we've been married a long time. And he said, yes, but you want me all to yourself. Callista doesn't care what I do.
ROSS: What was he saying to you, do you think?
GINGRICH: He was asking to have an open marriage, and I refused.
ROSS: He wanted an open marriage.
GINGRICH: Yeah, that I accept the fact that he has somebody else in his life.
ROSS: And you said?
GINGRICH: No. No. That is not a marriage.
*ponders*
yer a very powerful, randy, agin' male...and ye have this comely young lass that wants to wrap herself 'round yer ponderous stomach and run her blond tresses against yer loins...yet ye still love yer wife and are bein' open and honest with her about yer needs and desires...
whats the problem here, mates?
Mr. Gingrich was talkin' 'bout his needs and wanted to explore an open marrige (somethin' that a fair number 'o americans indulge in), why on earth should this weigh in to how folks view him as a potential leader 'o the free world?
i have me differences with Mr. Gingrich, but i find this kinda tawdry tabloid quality news regardin' a candidate fer POTUS irrelevant. it belongs in the bedroom and it be between consenting adults.
say, fer example, news came out that Mr. Romney slathers himself in bacon grease and has Mrs. Romney beat him with a spatula when they engage in intercourse...who cares?
or that Mr. Santorum enjoys havin' his Mrs. don a prosthetic and penetrate him...does this kinda stuff really need to be aired nationally?
and should any 'o it matter at all?

ahoy Lutherf,
aye...so in a way, she got what was comin' to her, aye?
thats fair enough, but to be larger point, don't ye think that as long as laws are not broken (as was the case in Mr. Edwards affair), that this kinda news be just gutter level stuff and ought to be considered irrelevant?

Is it fair game? Sure...this is why you don't get married several times, firstly. Someone like Newt or Rudy is bound to have these sorts of skeletons in their closests. But it'll certainly be fair when Romney hits the south come super Tuesday and folks start talking about the mormon church's propensity to have 14 year old gals wed to old men, some of which whom have several wives and whether Romney engages in similar acts with young girls, and all sorts. None of it is likely true, but then again that's hardly relevant in the larger scheme of things. After what happened with Clinton and Lewinsky, all of this stuff is generally fair game.

MHP, in the grand scheme of things what other people do in their personal lives isn't that big a deal to me. Gingrich copped to his infidelity and, under the circumstances, did the right thing and stepped down. I wasn't bothered so much by Clinton fooling around with Lewinsky as I was by the way he handled things. That stuff is all water under the bridge now and the issue at hand is how, as a candidate for president, Gingrich would handle the responsibilities of that office and I think that he'd do a good job so he's got my support.
Can we now dwell into Obamas sex life?
Moderates are not republicans
So basically he just wanted to be married AND still fuck around. So what? He's not the first guy to suggest an open marriage to his wife, and he wont be the last. I have some modicum of respect for him for at least having the balls to discuss it with her.
This woman, on the other hand, is pure trash. She obviously has no respect for Newt as a human being, let alone as her ex husband, as she has no problem airing private husband/wife conversations to the whole world.
Think about that for a moment...how much of what we have all shared with our spouses could be taken completely out of context and thrown out for the whole world to see to our detriment? Hell, with the right interviewer, just a conversation with your wife about wanting to have sex on the couch for a change could be twisted into making you appear a complete pervert...
Guns don't kill people. Dads with beautiful daughters kill people.
ahoy EricOKC, 'tis good to see ye back ondeck,
thats more or less how i feel, mate.
well, i differ with ye thar. he took an oath 'o fidelity to her, and he had clearly broken it, and she be unhappy with him. in this day 'n age, the spurned spouse airin' thar hurts isn't really anythin' new. This woman, on the other hand, is pure trash. She obviously has no respect for Newt as a human being, let alone as her ex husband, as she has no problem airing private husband/wife conversations to the whole world.
agreed, thats the point i was tryin' to make in me OP...still, it does matter, though in ways imma not sure be fair or relevant. a friend 'o mine once shared with me that his wife fantasized 'bout havin' robust and spirited interracial sex with several men at the same time, and i hafta to admit i found this hard to fergit when they had me o'er fer a wholesome dinner 'o baked chicken and mashed potatoes.Think about that for a moment...how much of what we have all shared with our spouses could be taken completely out of context and thrown out for the whole world to see to our detriment? Hell, with the right interviewer, just a conversation with your wife about wanting to have sex on the couch for a change could be twisted into making you appear a complete pervert...

Greetings, Pirate!
The issue is hypocrisy. The right wing is supposed to be about family values and in a party where they speak out against things like polygamy and gay marriage beating the the drum of "traditional" unions between a man and a woman, it hurts his credibility. If one cannot practice what they preach, they shouldn't preach at all. This is the same guy who launched an all out assault on Clinton for getting a blow job from a fat chick.
It's not the behavior itself that is at issue it is the hypocrisy associated with a man who demonizes another for poor values while actively cheating on his wife and demanding an "open" marriage.
No... nor his life growing up
Nor his college years... including grades test scores and papers written
Nor his years working as a 'community organizer'
Nor his years as a professor
Nor his years as a state Senator
Nor his church life
Nor most anything else for that matter... including:
Fast and Furious
Solyndra (or the 11 other 'green' corporations taking money and going out of business)
Recess appointments (and how the actions in 2011 conflict with the legal position stated in 2009)
Nor about the offshore money to the campaign through the address verification system being turned off
And all that is just off the top of my head...

I don't much care who either of them are fucking but what you are saying just isn't true. Clinton was investigated for sexual harassment, a claim he settled out of court for about $1M, and committed perjury during the deposition. That the perjury involved him sticking his cigar straight into the horses mouth is completely irrelevant. It was the perjury the "all out assault" was launched over, not the blow job from the fat whore.
I find a sitting POTUS outright lying, while under oath no less, completely reprehensible regardless of who is doing it. Of course I find fucking Lewinsky more reprehensible. JFK nailed Marilyn Monroe. Couldn't Clinton have done a bit better?
