well mark, I work for a huge company (85% market share) and we are not having the greatest year but even in the best ones, of the 2 bonus’ I received in a year, the largest was $1500.00.....so that $600.00 is nothing to sneeze at since I would have to say that comparatively, what I do to what they do is worlds, worlds apart...and as far my hourly as recompense on the other side...well when they go to school and train as hard as I did then they can enjoy that too.......I would say even counting that in....the 600.00 is still not bad..in many places around the country that’s a month rent etc.....how about the company forgoes all bonus' and invests that in employee med accounts? ..but then again...who are we to say? Do you have a biz?..would you want the gov. dictating to you what expenses you had to carry?

and as far as avoiding walmart? I think its a class thing...would not be caught dead in the place would you?

I don't get too caught up in "class things." I don't shop at WM for many reasons----the fact that all the white trash hangs out there is not chief among them. (In fact, I too come from a long line of white trash, but discovered soap at an early age, so I blend in with the effete quite well these days.)

Yes, you are right, $600 makes quite a difference to someone making $16,000 a year. But with the obscene profits they make, why not raise wages to a point where a family can afford to live w/o also having to accept food stamps, WIC, earned income credits, free school lunches, Medicaid, etc.? Wal-Mart is a drain on our collective economy, in that a huge portion of their employees subsist on some sort of tax-funded program. Corporations have more than just a duty to their share-holders; they too are a part of our society, and as such, should be held accountable for their actions (or lack thereof). This retarded hangover from Reagan's legacy (you know the one, the one that says, "I only worry about me & how much I can grab for myself") has proven itself unwieldy.

In short, fuck Wal-Mart. Let's bury the cock-suckers once & for all.
