Re: House Quietly Votes to Raise Taxes

Again, the top 5% pay over half the nations income tax. So how can you honestly believe that they don't pay their share, when it takes the other 95% of people to make up the difference of roughly 45% in taxes?

Second, they probably pay a lower percentage of their income in taxes than most people on this board.

Re: House Quietly Votes to Raise Taxes
Yes, this is according to the congress. Under their pay as you go rules, they had to get money from somewhere to pay the expenses of the two new members they want. Since they havent taken all the rich peoples money yet, thats the natural place to start.

Re: House Quietly Votes to Raise Taxes
How do you come to the conclusion that weve been swinging even a little bit towards regressive taxes? And yes, this did start with creating a couple of new seats. The tax raise was neccesary to pay for it, but it came second.

Do you know your tax rate? Again, the rich pay more in taxes than you do. Let's say they do pay a lower %. 1% of 5million dollars is more than 50% of 1 dollar. So you are comparing apples to oranges, or Granny smith's to red delicious at least. Please note that percentages do not pay bills, cold hard cash does.

Re: House Quietly Votes to Raise Taxes
Prove me wrong. Show me the percentage you pay and the percentage that someone who makes 5 million dollars a year pays. Then show me the total dollars each of you pays and we will see who pays more to the government.

Re: House Quietly Votes to Raise Taxes
According to the IRS
$7,550 to $60,650 pays $750 plus 15% of the amount over $7,550. $336,550 and up pays $97,653 plus 35% of the amount pver $336,550 Who paid a higher percentage? 35%>15% $97,653 > $750

Re: House Quietly Votes to Raise Taxes
The argument is pointless as everyone uses the definition that best fits their agenda. Fact is half the country is paying all the taxes, and the other half is paying none, and that gap is increasing every year. One day the rich may just form their own country and take their taxes elsewhere. In the meantime they get no thanks for taking care of everyone.

Why don't you tell us what the $97,653 and over pay? Why don't you tell us what the $200,000 and over pay? Check my link to find out they pay a way lower precentage than the rest of us. |
