Where you are incorrect is this:

I have tons of research papers that show otherwise.

Americans For Fair Taxation: Research Papers

Now, how about answering the question. What is rich, and how much is fair to take from them?

You want a number - go with $350,000 a year.
But t doesn't matter what number I designate as rich because you are taking inheritance and investiment income out of the mix. Many multi-millionaires don't have "a job" they have investments so you want them to pay nothing and the poor schmuck who works two jobs to pay instead.

There should be no tax on death or investment or gift giving. A house, car or boat should be taxed only once, not every time it changes hands. UP TO A POINT. But we are not a country founded on aristocracies.

We can tax the top 12,000 estates that leaves plenty of money to be passed on. The Mega rich should payback to the great American marketplace that helped provide them an environment for such a comfortable life.

If anything guys who make the majority of their income on investments should pay a larger percentage than those who work using their back....or don't you care about American families spending time together?

Now please answer my Voodoo economic's question.

How does everyone benefit (especially the rich) and we raise more money to pay bills and debt?
I guess this movie would be called "A Very Convenient Lie"

Answer: we don't. We just cannibalize our country for the benifit of the Cheney class who don't care if we backrupt America and ruin our national credit.

Fine, make it a tax on wealth then. Give me a number that you think is fair which represents who is rich, and how much the govt should take from them. I simply and failing to grasp why someone who has more has any more obligation to pay than someone who has less. What if you were poor and I was rich and we went to McDonalds for a big mac. You were charged 1c because you were poor. I was charged $10,000 because Im rich. Is that fair?

I dont get your question? How does everyone benefit by raising taxes? We dont. In fact, taxes hurt people. But, it what they are spent on. You are also wrong about Cheney. He is rich because the economy is strong. It is in the interest of the rich to keep it that way.

My question is:
  • how do you change the tax system
  • lower everyone's taxes
  • generate more $$$ & have enough revenue to pay off government's bills?

The fair tax. It does all of that. Under the fair tax, everyone gets a prebate, making the poor pay no taxes, giving the middle class no taxes on investments and many purchases, and the rich of course have lower taxes. SOme people do get a tax raise, and thats those who currently dont report income, such as illegal activity and many visitors. While the fiar tax is designed to be revenue neutral, is suspect this will actually increase revenue. If anythig econome growth will skyrocket providing more taxes. Id suggest reading the FairTax book.
