Re: Stimulus Check: Spend or Save?

600 bucks? That is a tank of gas in my pickup, a case of beer and the single 20lb bag of rice I am allowed at Sam's club. Check spent.

Re: Stimulus Check: Spend or Save?

Well, I didn't qualify that I know of so, I'm not going to do anything. Though I do know my brother is going to use it exactly for what it was intended for. Then again, that's because he has no debt, no children, and is taken care of by the government what with being in the national guard at the moment. So he's getting a laptop, well not just with the rebate money but with the return money as well but still he's probably the only one I know who is going to use the money for what it was intended. To buy stuff that is.

If my parents get back anything for example, I know they'll be spending it on bills. As for what I'd do with it if I was getting one, I dunno, probably save it. Until I'm swimming in money above all else, ya know a place to live, food, etc. I'm certainly not going to be doing much spending. Hell, I'm part of the reason Christmas sucked so much for the retail business last year, I didn't buy a damn thing for anybody.

Re: Stimulus Check: Spend or Save?

Ours will go in the bank and, eventually, will be spent. It'll be spent paying bills, or it'll be spent on something we've wanted to buy, but it will be spent on something...

Re: Stimulus Check: Spend or Save?

Hard to select a choice. It may end up in savings, or it may end up going into home improvements (carpet or something). Hard to say at this point.

I know that it won't go anywhere frivolous.

Come on, pramjockey. This is your one chance to get that full sized Predator replica you've always wanted. You could probably convince yourself that it's a home improvement.

Re: Stimulus Check: Spend or Save?

I think it's worth repeating that in order for this package to stimulate the economy people will need to spend the money on stuff Made in America. Saving it or paying off debt won't help and that's what most people will probably wind up doing.

Fortunately, I make too much money to receive one.
