Re: Stimulus Checks given to Wrong People.
Using an IRS qualified tax preparer has it's advantages. They can pick up the telephone, speak directly to an IRS agent who has access to one's tax records and immediately resolve most any issue covered by the tax code and IRS snafus. Try that one on your own.
Why are people still referring to the borrowed money being doled out to lower income individuals in what will be a failed attempt to pump GDP as stimulus checks? |

Re: Stimulus Checks given to Wrong People.
Pretty sure you're not. I think you have to file to get the check.

Re: Stimulus Checks given to Wrong People.
Good point, or that they don't want to admit they're dumb enough to let the government borrow it in their names, pay the admin distribution costs out of their pockets and let them service the interest while maybe their children can retire the principal amount when USD is on a par with the Peso.

Re: Stimulus Checks given to Wrong People.
I have an idea for a R E A L S T I M U L U S P A C K A G E
Instead of bailing out the top banks in America why not give THAT to all taxpayers who actually paid taxes? The way I figure it: Bailout total - $300bn 47.5 million returns...of which 34% pay no taxes so that leaves 31.4 million people. Soo each taxpayer could get $9,554 buuuuut let's say we eliminate millionaires (hey they don't need it) which is about 8,000,000 people... so that really leaves 23.4 million people to get checks - which means WE WOULD ALL GET $12,820!!! now THAT would stimulate the economy!! |

Re: Stimulus Checks given to Wrong People.
Because all Republicans are rich, doncha know? They don't need to buy rich folks votes as (let's make this conjugative) all rich folks are Republicans. And, all Republicans stick together and watch out for their own. It's part of the conspiracy.

Re: Stimulus Checks given to Wrong People.
Well, to play devil's advocate... demographically speaking, poor people are more likely to go out and blow the money on trinkets and extravagant things than they are to save it. Or else, they'll use it to pay off debt they might have defaulted on. So, these are the people most likely to pump the money right back into the economy. Wealthier people may blow it or they may invest it in the market, but they may also stick it in checking for a rainy day or invest in commodities or international funds.
