Re: Stock Market drops 777 points today
If you are only going by point totals today would be the new September 17th, 2001 since that was the previous record holder. As a percentage the Dow lost less than 7 percent compared to Black Monday's 20+ percent drop, making today the 17th largest drop in Dow history. You sound like a nightly news broadcast.

Market will likely bounce tomorrow, at least in the morning, but if it goes up, that just means the rich are trying to keep it afloat a little longer before we have a FULL correction. Someone, sorry I don't remember who, said........"this is not the beginning of the end, it is the end of the beginning." I AGREE. |

Re: Stock Market drops 777 points today
THe DOW JONES is not "the stock market". Still we had a significant drop of around 9% on the Wilshire 5000 (it is a market capitalization-weighted index of the market value of all stocks actively traded in the USA).
Personally, I bought more stock today - It is on sale!!!

Re: Stock Market drops 777 points today
The futures are already on a 200 plus bounce.
And a little prespective - percentage wise this isn't even close to 1987, in fact yesterdays drop is not even in the top 10 drops. The media is irresponsibly hyping this up to no end...and that doesn't help with getting a good bill. The markets need help, but not $700bn blank check to the fat cats that caused this mess. We have now ALREADY bailed out nearlly $700bn - and here we are - no better than before. |

But the worry is that another couple of European banks have needed a bailout overnight and today, and that most importantly Lloyds is considering re-negotiating its takeover of HBos at a lower value per share due to lack of available credit. That's the sort of disasterous effect this could have. |
