Which tend to be the upper-level left wingers.

Self-made rich tend to be liberal. It's the ones trying to hold on to their inheritances that end up conservative.

That goes far beyond a pragmatic left-wing policy. It is trendy now to oppose market capitalism, and that is obviously very bad for the economy going forward.
Except, of course, that no one of any real consequence does oppose capitalism, whether it's 'trendy' to or not.

Whether that will manifest itself in actual policy change is impossible to know. But we are going through one of those "business people are evil" periods that the US goes through occasionally. It is absurd, but it has to play itself out.
Except, of course, that we're not.

You must have a really strange concept of "a very long time." It opened at 9310 and closed at 8577 on October 15. That is a drop of 733 points. The drop today at close missed that by a good 200 points.

Re: Wall Street says 'hi' to the Obama Era

I don't see how anyone could equate Obama's election to the economy drop. The Obama campaign pumped over 400 million dollars into the economy and McCain's campaign put in only half that. Clearly this proves that Democratic campaigns are better for the economy than Republican campaigns.

*chuckle*

Actually, both groups are all over the map.

There are wealthy New England families who are far left in their politics and have been on the cutting edge of whatever was left-wing since the middle of the nineteenth century.

There are newly wealthy people who would rather decide what they will do with their money, and fear the regulations that come with the far left.

So there is no one definition.

Re: Wall Street says 'hi' to the Obama Era

Yes, after today, the message is very clear:

The business community is terrified of an Obama presidency and the far-left congress who will have absolute control.

And if anyone is stupid enough to think that only the "fat cats" will be punished, they are in for a rude shock.

This is the first genuine leftist government since FDR, and it means that the assault on business will continue as long as the left has an absolute stranglehold on the economy.

It is only two days since the election. If Obama and his faux-socialist chums don't say something to calm the markets, we are looking at the deluge.

Business is always the enemy for the radical left. That has not changed.
