Angry Why this stimulus package is an outrage..

Here is a list of just a few of the pork project of the year called "stimulus package".
Obama banned earmarks, which is irrelevant because there is no need for earmarks when the bill alreday includes all the pork every member in Congress could think of.

$1 million to upgrade the Los Angeles County Convention Center elevated "catwalk" for cameras and lighting;
$350,000 for an Albuquerque, N.M., fitness center;
$94 million for a parking garage at the Orange Bowl in Miami;
$4.5 million for Gretna, Florida, to bottle water with recyclable bottles;
$35 million music hall of fame in Florissant, Missouri,
$3.1 million for a swimming pool in Tulsa.
$5.7 million to improve a cruise ship terminal in Puerto Rico
$300 million to build the proposed 1,000-room luxury hotel at the convention center.
$70 million to improve wastewater treatment in light of new state regulations on dumping waste into the ocean.
$64.7 million for new parking garages at Port Everglades.
$30 million for a 10-courtroom addition to the aging state courthouse.
$26 million for greenways along the C-14 Canal and Hiatus and Flamingo roads.
$23 million for a bypass road through the port to relieve traffic from Fort Lauderdale Is your Fort Lauderdale restaurant clean? - Click Here. streets.
$22.8 million to build new offices for Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes.
$19.7 million to expand cruise terminals at the port.
$17.9 million to expand container yards at the port.
$14 million to construct the proposed sand-bypassing system at the port entrance, thus stopping sand from accumulating to the north and replenishing beaches to the south.
$13 million to expand the taxiway system at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
$13 million to buy 20 hybrid or hydrogen-fueled buses.
$6.9 million to expand Vista View Park in Davie.
$4 million to expand the Miramar Pinelands Natural Area.
$3.2 million to replace elevators and escalators in county buildings with more energy-efficient models.

Please add more of what you find...

Which of the things on that list won't create labor demand? What exactly do you want from a bailout, iam? The very definition of the idea of stimulus via infrastructure is pure, unadulterated pork - expansion of the government.

Why don't you just put that in your signature to save yourself the effort of posting it in every thread you open?

actually, a lot of this sounds like good stuff. longer taxiways? sure. longer taxiways means more and bigger aircraft, and that encourages commerce. ditto expanding port terminals and container yards. energy-efficient elevators and escalators? sounds great. more efficient, less polluting buses? makes sense. add-ons for aging courthouses? i'm not sure i see why we're supposed to let courthouses just crumble and collapse. and the sand-bypassing system sounds like something i'd need to know more about. (remember sarah palin's sneering crack about money being wasted "experimenting on fruit flies," when fruit fly experiments are one of the linch-pins of modern genetics? )

we can't all live and work in cardboard refrigerator boxes just so republicans can turn ALL our tax money into border fences and bunker busters. buildings and public motor vehicles aren't necessarily a liberal conspiracy, you know.

Re: Why this stimulus package is an outrage..

the point is quite simple, liberals will find no fault with virtually any spending that is not defense related.

the question is, how does any of this crap stimulate the economy ? its all temp labor. great for mexico, useless for America.

and of conservatives, the exact opposite is true. if our taxmoney isn't going to blow the arms and legs off a dark-skinned infant halfway across the world, it gets called "socialism." apparently if we live in america we're all supposed to live in trees and skewer fish with sharp sticks for food.

How about an idea the federal government hasn't tried in decades?

SPENDING CUTS!

When you only have $10, don't spend $20 (or $50).

Nah. Way too radical an idea.
