    Millionaires to Congress: Tax Us!

Just saw one of these guys on tv advocating for this, but I didnt hear him say he was writing a check to the IRS for any taxes he feels he isnt paying enough of. Instead he wants to force govt to tax his friends. Just goes to show rich people are dumb masses like the rest of the country. And the fact that the use the words "bush tax cuts for the rich" clues us off that they are probably liberals.

Boston, MA -- With Congress poised to act this year on the Bush tax cuts, a group of American millionaires is calling for an end to the tax breaks that have benefited them – but left the rest of the country with a crippling debt and dwindling budgets for education, health and other vital services at the state and Federal levels.

These millionaires are among the 700 bsusiness leaders and individuals in the top 5% of wealth and income who make up the Responsible Wealth network, which has been instrumental in, among other things, preventing the permanent repeal of the estate tax which President Bush had vowed to eliminate. They are asking other wealthy Americans to join them in their efforts to end the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy once and for all by taking the Tax Fairness Pledge and directing their tax breaks to fight for tax policies that benefit all Americans.

The growing list of Pledge signers includes:

It's nice to see that there are rich folks who put the country ahead of their greed, unlike the conservative rich.

Sounds like they are quite literally ready to put their money where their mouth is.
First they came for the mimes, and I did not speak out, because I was a mime.

    Yup.

It would be interesting to see how many of these individuals earned their own wealth vs. inheriting it.

People who have made a huge amount of money are usually very liberal, they feel lucky, they want to share, and they know how to make more.
People who inherit money are usually conservative, not always, but you get your Richard Mellon Scaife types, who know they have no chance of making money and just want to be able to hold on to what they have inherited, they hate taxes.

So what's stopping them? Why do they feel the need to force others to do the same thing?

    Exactly.

The petty selfishness is clear in those who inherited their money - they don't know how to replace it, so they'll do anything they can to keep it, regardless of the harm it does to others.

How is inherited money harming others?

And whats wrong with inheriting money? How is this any different than a charity or the govt getting it? They didnt do anything to produce the wealth either.

Speaking of the rich, the IRS is coming for you.

Through our new Global High Wealth operating unit we are taking a unified look at the entire web of business and economic entities controlled by a high wealth individuals so we can better assess the risk such arrangements pose to tax compliance.

Inheriting money has nothing inherently wrong with it. It's the twats that inherited money creates that are the problem.

What if instead of holding tryouts for the US Olympic team for 2012, we simply found the descendants of former Olympians and formed the team from them.
How do you think that team would do?

Well, wealth is what controls the economy, and putting the control of the economy in the hands of people whose parents and grandparents did well is going to produce similar results.

There is a difference in the abilities of Conrad Hilton and Paris Hilton.

Well there seems to be several really good questions floating around in the thread that those of the anti-wealth left haven't answered yet. Well guys?

This group this united for a fair economy is just another Soros front group looking to keep others from accumulating wealth and power. Nothing more.

Oh and guys... once you get through answering all those other questions... how about coming up with the (alleged) list of 700 top 5% these ass clowns claim back them up
