EU to sign free trade deals with ASEAN countries

The EU has signed a major free trade deal with South Korea that lifts taxes, tariffs and other obstacles for free trade between South Korea and the countries of the EU, concerning all kinds of goods from cars to whisky. The agreement is supposed to set the ball rolling for similar treaties with other asian countries that are eager to open the EU market for their goods as well. Japan is likely to follow soon, and Malaysia has also announced the start of negotiations with the 27 nations bloc :

Interestingly the EU hammered out the deal while the US is still quarreling around.

Here's what's going to happen... wealth will flow from Europe to the ASEAN countries and people in Europe will lose their jobs to the products that are lower priced from the ASEAN countries. Just like what's been going on in America.

I am surprised that it was a free trade agreement and not a fair trade agreement that the EU is known for.

Re: EU to sign free trade deals with ASEAN countries

^^ Actually its in large parts pretty much a copy of the free trade agreement between the US and South Korea, with the sole difference that the EU showed the ability to struck a deal while the US is still quarreling with itself about it.
