Core US inflation slowest on record

Core inflation rose by only 0.6% according the the BLS, the lowest since the series began back in 1957.
The article above points out that the biggest goal of the Fed's quantitative easing is to get inflation ticking up again by pushing down long term interest rates.

We don't want a "lost decade" like Japan suffered:

I think Republicans are screaming about QEII for two reasons:

    They don't understand economics, or,
They are willing to sacrifice our economy in order to get President Obama fired two years from now.

Why do they want to get Obama fired in two years when he's perfectly capable of doing it himself? Obama, (if we're lucky) will do fine on that front all by himself. He will walk himself out come 2012.

Re: Core Inflation Lowest on Record

Core inflation is generally a bullshit figure. It takes the CPI and then excludes things like food and fuel. Which while certainly volatile (and is part of the argument for exclusion) are a meaningful part of what people are actually spending money on.

We are either getting ready for some serious deflation or the figures are tweaked to hide inflation.

People can't wait a year or two to pay the electric bill or to pay for lunch.
