We need to do both. The tax cuts were a key player in creating our fiscal mess.

Except of course for the fact the budget was never balanced. Got close once in 2000 though.

Yes, you do live in a black and white world, you're just trying to hide from it. Which works for a while, but sooner or later reality will find you.

It's hilarious when you try to sneak in your "alternative reality game" thinking

Are you satirizing right wing idiots, or do you really believe that crap?

At the core, we are all "selfish and greedy".

If you need my help, unless my children are fed first, you will starve.

    You would do the same.
Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add "within the limits of the law" because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.

I leave alternate reality to you.

I proved it. As has been posted many, many times, which you have yet once to be able to disprove.

Thank you for this valuable insight into the mental processes of TEA Party philosophers. Many people don't think that paying federal income tax is "handing over money" as the process is a legal one dependent on elected representatives under our Constitution, a bit more structured a process than just "handing over money." I hope they can see now that this is a mere distinction without a difference.

As to the probity and judgement of our elected representatives, that too is an issue handled under the Constitution by democratic elections. There is no guarantee of what we will get, but there is some assurance that we will get whom we chose. It's an imperfect world, I guess.

Mr. Wiener's judgement is indeed disappointingly immature. He did not, however, break any laws nor did he commit adultery. In fact he never met met any of the women to whom he addressed his graphic mash notes.

Mr. Vitter broke the laws of both Louisianna and Washington DC as well as his marriage vows by his frenetic whore hopping. He still serves in the US Senate as a beacon of Republican morality. We could go down the lengthy list of congresscritters from both parties who have shown the discrimination and discretion of rats in heat, but what would be the point? Nothing Wiener did rises to the level of those transgressions; the important thing is the hypocritical standard and faux moral outrage by those public officials who have not been caught yet.

All in all, it has been a great shindig for the Moral Minority.

Could it be sarcasm on MattInFla's part. I think it is. As for the other yahoos thinking it's because of low taxation, I beg to differ. Then again, no matter how many charts you, me or anyone else throws up showing expenditures, it will always be Bush's fault.

    1) Clinton was a low down big spending liberal/socialist like all liberals

    2) People hated him so elected the first Republican House in 40 years

    3) Republicans made him lie and say, "the era of big government is over"

    4) Newt was breathing down his throat with government shut downs, tax cuts, and Balanced Budget Amendments

    5) Plus, Clinton inherited a huge boom from Bush 41

Now you know the whole story.

Sorry! Your world sounds horrible, selfish, and with no chance for long-term survival.

No, our world is not "black and white." It is a world based on social responsibility and openness. It is not perfect, and obviously our family comes first, but we do know that, our family alone, with no regard to other people's families, to a broader "humankind" empathy, would not survive.

I understand you have absolutely no grasp of finance. That's something everyone on this board has been well informed of when it comes to you.

Except Danny maybe, he's pretty clueless when it comes to finance and economics too.

Not sure about math though, I would at least hope Danny can add 2+2 and get 4. I know your math skills aren't that advanced though.

How do you think mankind got to this point?

It certainly wasn't through "social responsibility". It's been through the inspiration and effort of those rare individuals who have dragged the rest of mankind kicking and screaming along in their wake.

Sure! Just look at WWII. Is its obviously to save their own family that so many people harbored jewish people at the risk of their own life.

And it is because they want to make lots of money for their own family that Doctors without borders travel all over the world to care for people in desperate need.

Maybe, just maybe you are talking about your own little tribe, a relatively small section of America who cares not for anyone else, but their own greed and any means to get more for themselves even if it takes everything away from the majority of their countrymen!

You keep your philosophy. I'll keep mine. Thanks for your opinion though. It makes me feel VERY good to disagree with you!
