Honey is only one part,,, what about the other flowers and fruits that need the bees?

That's been something of a problem here in the US, but the bees are disappearing in England and Europe too.

Of course it's too soon to ban cell phones, I'm just not all that fond of them and if they disappeared I wouldn't shed any tears.

You're right to express caution, Gort, this is all fairly preliminary. There may be a threshhold in signal saturation involved in this. Our company works for one of the big cell phone companies and they are putting up new towers at a fantastic rate--in our region alone they're intending to put up more than 100 new towers this year. They are trying to blanket the whole area with signal and perhaps that's the problem.

That is also exactly my reason why I'm not so sure about this theory. Cell phones are more a European thing, with the biggest cell phone providers being European (i.e. Nokia). There were cell phones here a bit earlier than in the US and there is a higher amount of cell phones in Europe. But the bees here are by far not dying as fast as oversees, only in some regions, and only partial, up to 15%.

But I've heard something about gmo's that are disturbing bees. So maybe the bee decline points to another direction.

Re: Bees and Cell Phones

I heard another theory that the death of the bees may be caused by genetically manipulated crops. Who knows?

Re: Bees and Cell Phones

Could it be that migrant insects are doing their job, cheaper, and forcing them out?

I have wondered about the same thing (African Bees), but also, I think the Idea of Cell phones being the sole culprite is nonsense. I live in a rural area, with lots of farms AND BEES, but very few Cell phones. And the same thing is happening here.

Actually, that one is happening.
More aggressive bee is destroying the old, more docile race of bees.

yup, see my earlier post on it. A great piece written many years ago mentioned this, at the time, potential problem. Now the white supremists will bitch about africans even more.

It might be good not to judge too quickly, electromagnetic radiation is a potent force. The thing to remember is that we are attempting to blanket the whole country with cell signal so that you have coverage EVERYWHERE. If you can get cell reception where you are, then your area is blanketed with the cell signal. If it's this cell signal interrupting the bee's homing sense, it maybe a factor.

If you read my posts carefully you'll note that I'm not saying anything definite, but just reporting on some new evidence that seems to fit some of the facts. Nobody is saying "sole culprite".

QUOTE] Apparently you have no real knowlege of So Call. I live in Newberry springs, 22 miles from Barstow, and on route 66 (US interstate forty, there is Dagget, Newberry Springs, and Ludlow between Barstow and Needled. some 150 Odd miles. these three conmmunities have a total population of less than 5,000 peple, and Newberry to Barstow is mostly rural, and some sort of farmland (wherever there is water available) (the underground Majave river, and basin.)

Mostly we have fruit and nut orchards (no wisecracks please) and alfalfa fields. But more lakes per cappa than Minnesota.

OK, the cell towers perhaps, but not the cell phones.

But that could also be caused by Radar It is known to affect Bats.
