And there goes the "corporate bees". Hope that bee sting didn't hurt too long for you the last time we discussed this.

Bees are VERY important to agriculture. Many of our crops are pollinated by bees. I am a hobbyist beekeeper. I only have one hive. I got 10 pints of honey last year. My bees are healthy thank goodness.
I think bees are neat.

Environmentalists are probably pissed. Many were really trying to blame the climate, pollution and chemicals.

Actually, we're glad that they are finding out what killed such a vital contributer to the ecological system.

Huh? Ecosystem?

Naw, the bees they speak here are industrial-kept bees that only contribute to the economic system or the industrial agricultural system.

The wild bees that actually make a necessary contribution to the ecological system were not generally affected.

I don't normally consider a hundred square mile field of industrially grown flax to be part of the 'ecosystem'.

Re: new clues in bee colony collapse

The Green Party in Sweden first won seats in the Swedish parliament in 1988, following a massive death of seals in the Baltic Sea along the Swedish east coast. It was later discovered that the massive death was not due to environmental hazards, but to a natural virus disease. Once that was established, the Green Party lost some of its support.

The seal populations in the Baltic Sea has since grown in numbers to such an extent that there are now talks about the need for hunting seals.
