Gore wins Nobel Prize

Past Nobel Peace Prize winners include:
  • NELSON MANDELA Leader of the ANC.
  • MIKHAIL SERGEYEVICH GORBACHEV , President of the USSR, helped to bring the Cold War to an end.
  • THE 14TH DALAI LAMA (TENZIN GYATSO) , Tibet. Religious and political leader of the Tibetan people
  • THE UNITED NATIONS PEACE-KEEPING FORCES New York, NY, U.S.A.
  • DESMOND MPILO TUTU , South Africa, Bishop of Johannesburg, former Secretary General South African Council of Churches (S.A.C.C.). for his work against apartheid.
  • LECH WALESA , Poland. Founder of Solidarity, campaigner for human rights.
  • MOTHER TERESA , India, Leader of the Order of the Missionaries of Charity.
  • MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. , leader of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, campaigner for civil rights.
  • GEORGE CATLETT MARSHALL , General, President American Red Cross, ex-Secretary of State and of Defense, Delegate to the U.N., Originator of the Marshall Plan.
  • ALBERT SCHWEITZER , Missionary surgeon, Founder Lambaréné Hospital in République du Gabon

Today we can add another towering figure to that list, Albert Arnold Gore, Jr. for his production of a power point presentation and slide show on global warming.

In the Year of Our Lord, Albert A. Gore, Jr., 2007

The British court ruled that even though his film, "An Inconvenient Truth" was based on scientific research, it was presented in "the context of alarmism and exaggeration."

Quote:
Gore's film "is substantially founded upon scientific research and fact," Judge Burton said. "Albeit that the science is used, in the hands of a talented politician and communicator, to make a political statement and to support a political program."

He said the government's plan to show the film violated laws banning the promotion of partisan political views in the classroom, but could proceed if teachers ensure that Gore's political views are not seen as being endorsed by schools.

Burton outlined nine problems — including Gore's claim that sea level rises of 23 feet might occur in the immediate future — something the judge characterized as "distinctly alarmist."

He also cited claims that Hurricane Katrina, the evaporation of most of Lake Chad and the melting of the snow on Mount Kilimanjaro were all caused by global warming. Burton said there was insufficient evidence to back those claims.
The Nobel Peace Prize committee said they awarded the prize to Al Gore for his efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change. Next year I plan to nominate my local weatherman and my garden thermometer for their work to disseminate more knowledge on the same warming conditions.

As long as you don't nominate Bush for spreading democracy to Iraq.
