Actually he did read your post, and we are still warming. The current la nina which began in 2007 and is expected to finish in 2008 will give cooler average temperatures for those years but then el nino will kick back in with a vengence. Even though there was a la nina in 2007 it was still the 8th hottest year on record... without la nina it probably would have been 1st or 2nd.

Also global warming is expected to increase the strength and frequency of el nino and weaken la nina.

It has been satisfying to see the number of GW skeptics dwindle over the last 5 or 10 years, 90% of europeans agree that GW is a major problem, thanks to the missinformation and scientific tampering of Bush only 75% of American's do... but that number is steadily increasing.

January 07 was warmer than Jan 08. A cooling trend that does not make.

There is nothing in GW or AGW theory that predicts linear uniform warming for every year since we have begun transforming the land, the oceans, and emitting GHGs. There is obviously going to be variability in data, especially in the short term data.

A climate trend can only be measured in decades or longer, not months or a year or two. The observed cooling this thread refers to is already trending in the opposite direction.

Actually it is neither me nor you that deserves any credit for this theory. That honor goes to James Lovelock. That's his baby. He proposed it decades ago, he was promptly ridiculed for it by the scientific establishment at the time, and now it is the foundation of the earth and atmospheric sciences. Isn't that how it always goes......?

I'm wondering if *you* read the post, and not just it's title. The artile even says that La Nina is a temporary variatoin, and the overall trend is still towards warming.

Newt Gingrich does not. He acknowledges that the climate is changing (as it has for BILLIONS of years) , but does not blame humans activities for it.

Newt does indeed acknowledge the human contribution to climate change. Newt proposes incentives to lowering CO2 emissions, so why would he argue for ways to lower CO2 emissions in his book A Contract with the Earth if he did not think CO2 emissions were causing a problem for the environment?

I misspoke - What i meant to say was that he does not SOLELY blame humans. Also, when questioned about this very issue on Hannity and Colmes, Newt said he has serious doubts about the causes, but would rather err on the side of caution. I'd expect that sort of pandering from a politician.

Climate scientists do not solely blame humans either, nor do they claim to understand all the factors involved. It is well understood that we are impacting a deeply complex system, without really knowing what we are doing.

Sounds like Newt is actually just reflecting the science. Good for him.

Couldn't you find even ONE credible source? I don't actually believe much in GW myself, but three articles together from these these sources are making me think maybe theres something to it.

But she would be saving herself. An ice age would do the trick.

However, I think you underestimate the life force. I am confident that life will continue one way or another under the most horrible circumstances. This planet has already been through many iterations. We now use what was once carbon based life forms in this planet as fossil fuels. One day WE may be the fossil fuels, but from a scientific perspective, it is difficult for me to see life obliterated.
