Carbon Belch Day is June 12th

Do your part! Save the planet from whining climate alarmists!
Carbon Belch Day
Quote:
Carbon Belch Day Pledge

Yes! I am joining people from all walks of life in taking the Carbon Belch Day Pledge! On June 12 I will do my best to increase my CO2 output and unleash a Carbon Belch on the planet. I do this with no fear or concern that I am destroying the planet. In fact, I think a good Carbon Belch can be healthy now and again.

In addition, I am joining the growing number of scientists and informed citizens deeply concerned by the dire predictions and proposed solutions of Climate Alarmists. Given that the doomsday predictions of Climate Alarmists are irresponsible and dangerous, I oppose U.S. participation in the Kyoto treaty or any such successor agreement, mandatory domestic limits on CO2, and any federal or state carbon "tax" or "cap-and-trade" system -- including the current Lieberman-Warner bill.
....my personal carbon belch will be :
Quote:
Your Carbon Belch:

Your one-day Carbon Belch has been calculated at: 348 pounds of CO2.
Nice job! (The average American's belch is 41 pounds.)

Thanks to you, we have calculated a cumulative total of 109,884,139 pounds of CO2 set to be released on Carbon Belch Day.

I am pretty happy about that nice high carbon belch! Yes, I know it is nowhere near AL Gore's! He is in a league of his own! But still, it is pretty damn good!!

In anticipation of Carbon Belch day: I am not recycling. I am super cooling the house every day- even when I am at work. I drive as fast as I can even up to red lights. I am flying A Cessna 172 at least 3x per week for 2 hours per trip - JUST FOR FUN!!! I am cooking most of my meals on my gas BBQ and using the gas to clean the BBQ by cranking up the heat for 15 minutes or so. I am eating meat with every meal -almost exclusively veal or beef. I am cutting my lawn with a gas lawnmower once a week and severely over-watering too. I am power-washing and hosing down the driveway at least once a week - using HOT salt softened water. I am taking very very long showers twice a day- an average of 15 minutes per shower (my wife too!) . I leave as many of the lights on in the house as I can - even when not home. I do not own any CFL bulbs and have no plans to, ever.

Well, thats about it, I am just trying to do my part! I hope you'll all participate!!

PS - don't forget to buy your Carbon Belch Debits (CBDs) -- a meaningless term that will have just as much impact on Al Gore’s "planetary emergency" as the carbon credits. Cheers!!

I wonder how many african children will die from the effects of Carbon Belch Day. Does the organization have a quota?

How the heck can any African children die from this?? I challenge you or anyone else to prove that anyone will die from this carbon belch. Your post is really the stock and trade of climate alarmists worldwide - irrational, emotional tripe.

Nigeria: The Ogoni:
Oil, Blood, and the Death of a Homeland
Bruce E. Johansen
Professor of Communication and Native American Studies
University of Nebraska at Omaha

The 500,000 tribal Ogoni of the Niger delta in southern Nigeria have watched as their
traditional fishing and farming livelihood has been laid waste by Shell Oil’s extraction of oil,
with full complicity of the national government, which has allowed large parts of the
Ogonis’ homeland to be ruined. The Ogonis’ land has been contaminated not only by oil
wells and pipelines, but also by gas flares that burn 24 hours a day, producing intense heat
and chemical gas fogs that pollute nearby homes as they render farm fields barren and
unproductive. The constant flaring of natural gas also contributes measurably to global
warming. Several Ogoni who protested the ruination of their homeland and the
impoverishment of their people have been convicted of false charges and executed.
Shell has extracted oil from the Niger Delta since 1958. Shell operates a joint-venture
consisting of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Elf and Agip. Shell is by far the
largest foreign oil company in Nigeria, accounting for 50 per cent of Nigeria’s oil
production. Nigeria generated roughly 12 per cent of Shell’s oil production world-wide in
the late 1990s. (Shell: 100 Years, 1997)
High-pressure pipelines have been laid above ground through villages and farmlands, a
major reason why the area suffered an average of 190 spills per year between 1989 and
1996, involving on average 319,200 gallons of oil. (Shell: 100 Years, 1997)
According to one observer on the scene, "Rivers, lakes and ponds are polluted with oil, and
much of the land is now impossible to farm. Canals, or ‘slots’, have permanently damaged
fragile ecosystems and led to polluted drinking water and deaths from cholera. Gas flaring
and the construction of flow stations near communities have led to severe respiratory and
other health problems..."
(Shell: 100 Years, 1997)
By 2000, oil accounted for more than 90 per cent Nigeria’s export earnings and roughly 80
per cent of government revenue. More than 90 per cent of Nigeria’s oil is extracted from the
Niger Delta. During the last 40 years, oil worth $30 billion has been extracted from the
Ogonis’ homeland. (Wiwa, 2000) By 2000, the Ogonis’ homeland was home to 100 oil
wells, two refineries, a petrochemical complex and a fertilizer complex, while most of the
Ogoni people do not have electricity or running water. It is a land where five physicians
serve 500,000 people. (Wiwa, 2000)
Your oil consumption is poisening African kids.

Then why post? You are using electricity, using energy, and increasing demand. If you care so much that you tell people they are allowing "african [sic] children [to] die", don't do that. It's heartless.

I'm creating awareness.

This thread was ridiculous to start with anyway.

Doesn't matter anymore that the smallest in society still suffer the worst so the pigs of the world can enjoy everything while the brunt again is thrust on the common working man supporting the breadbasket of the world. Try going to Dubai and enjoy your oil rich lifestyle, I am sure when your bank account is dry the Prince of the world will give you a handout...Right!!! I especially appreciate the statements of the obvious i don't give a fuk about you crowd.

Events like this just make global warming critics look irrational, and makes me wonder if this is what they organizers want, meaning they are actually trying to make global warming critics look bad.

Re: Carbon Belch Day is June 12th

But it does bring up an interesting point; Daisy once in her almighty ignorance once thought polluting could be criminalised, so why not this?

A few ideas have been batted about, one would be for smokers who wanna quit to not throw away their cigarettes they already have but to light them and let them pollute the air intnetionally, another is start more bon/barn fires, use and call for the creation of more non bio degradable materiels etc.

I don't even know if any of that even harms the environment but it would be good to see if it led to anything more than the general bed wetting of the apparent "scientific" community.

Wasting money and resources on something just to annoy people that you do not agree with doesn't seem like a very rational course of action.

Re: Carbon Belch Day is June 12th

Well so long as it doesn't cost them anything extra (say they have already bought Cigars they have since given up) then they don't seem to be doing anything that's anymore a waste of money than usual. I'm not doing it myself as i have much better ways to waste my time. (And i can't stand the smell of smoke).

While these people are at it, they should organize a day where women who are ovulating have unprotected sex and then take the morning after pill. It's perfectly legal and will annoy people with a silly point of view.

What gets me is if they really want to make their point they could put money into studies testing their own theories on the climate or they could contribute to organizations that are pushing their agenda but instead they are wasting that money on gasoline and higher electricity bills which will only increase demand which could raise prices for everybody. This is simply acting on emotional responses to opposing points of view rather than looking for a serious way to get their point across.

Re: Carbon Belch Day is June 12th

We all have to forgive Alex a bit anyway, he gets confused someitimes.

I mean wasting water on Carbon Belch Day? WTF.

I suppose the whole water shortage thing is another scare as well. Let me tell my rancher buddies whose wells are drying up that liberals are just scaring their pumps into not working. They're gonna feel a whole lot better now.
