Re: Extreme weather to increase with climate change
Global warming is hard to believe at times when living in southeastern Wisconsin. This past winter we had the most snow recorded in one winter since 1897! The winter also had a very large number of sub-zero days. I do not have the exact figures on this, but it definitely was most that I have experienced here.
However, it truly is easy to believe that global warming is a fact. Seeing polar ice caps melting and ancient glaciers melting at greater rates than normal speaks to this fact. It also is just common sense that global warming is happening. Numerous tons of carbon have been locked up in "liquid" or "solid" form as oil and coal. When much of that carbon has been released into the atmosphere as carbon dioxide then it only makes sense that things are going to heat up here on Earth.
I have heard the theory that plants will suddenly have growth spurts and start absorbing all the carbon dioxide and everything will be in balance again, eventually. Has anyone head of any tests being done or evidence of this happening?
